User Shreejash Tuladhar

I see you blocked this user and was wondering if you can point me to the master. This is going to be one of several larger sock farms related to film pages and would like to recommend G5 for their creations but need to be able to point to a master prior to the creation of the pages. CNMall41 (talk) 20:22, 4 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I have no idea who the master is, or I would have identified one in the block message. They were part of a group of UPE spammers (see my block log - those marked "UPE spammers" were from the same group). The studio spammers are prolific and, with the manpower and IP ranges available to them, our meager tools can't even put a dent in their efforts. Joy.-- Ponyobons mots 20:30, 4 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the log. And, I empathize about the manpower and tools. The film farms are bludgeoning to say the least. I am just hoping to frustrate their paid work while not disrupting Wikipedia. --CNMall41 (talk) 21:00, 5 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I try to zap what I can via G5 when I block the socks, but in cases such as this, blocking is all I can offer unless a master is eventually identified. -- Ponyobons mots 21:29, 5 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

New possible sock in a drawer you CU-blocked

Category:Wikipedia sockpuppets of Salarbil is from September 2022, so I doubt there is current data, but do you have any notes from when you worked on them? This new account:

just recreated:

with identical content to what:

had written. I know you can't tell me "does the account match the IP" but given the history of UPE on this article, maybe you can act on whether this new account and/or IP match any old CU info yo have. DMacks (talk) 16:16, 7 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@DMacks: I've blocked and tagged as a suspected sock. Weather it's the same individual or UPE WP:MEAT is neither here nor there as far as socking goes.-- Ponyobons mots 21:53, 8 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. DMacks (talk) 06:11, 9 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Caleb Deschanel

Hello Ponyo, A long time since we last spoke, trust you are well, as for me still having loads of tests and scans.

Could I please draw your attention to tthe Brazillian IP(s) who is again deleting masses on the [[Caleb Deschanel]] page. They appear to only want to show his Director of Photographty career, whilst ignoring his career as film director. They do not take any notice of their Talk pages, or the many deletions to their changes. Do you think a period of page protection would help? With best regards, David David J Johnson (talk) 17:36, 7 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@David J Johnson: I've rangeblocked the most recent /64.-- Ponyobons mots 22:02, 8 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Many thanks for your help. Regards, David David J Johnson (talk) 12:46, 9 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Possible sockpuppet

Hi Ponyo! As the blocking admin of both Coolbro247 (talk · contribs) and Vejarrichard9 (talk · contribs), it seems they're back as Claudia_Coolnes (talk · contribs), making similar disruptive edits. Hope you can do something about it. Thanks! Drovethrughosts (talk) 12:47, 9 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The account is  Confirmed and now blocked. Thanks for letting me know.-- Ponyobons mots 20:11, 9 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Likely sock

As block admin of sock Qumandan, one of the many from sock farm of Category:Wikipedia sockpuppets of Kamal Afghan01, very likely these accounts created after the previous socks were blocked are same person Leviathan12 and Monabhaii and please check for any sleepers as KamalAfghan01 has a history of creating many sock accounts at same time. Dazzem (talk) 14:21, 10 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Dazzem: please note the suspected socks and the corresponding evidence at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Kamal Afghan01 for Clerk review.-- Ponyobons mots 20:31, 10 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Ponyo, by the way this account is a sockpuppet of HaughtonBrit. If you take a look at the last 2 submissions on the KamalAfghan SPI archive, they're all HaughtonBrit socks. HaughtonBrit has been abusing FedEx listed proxies for years now-[1] and [2].
Look at the last 2 IPs-[3] and [4] and their geolocation.
His modus operandi is primarily to aggrandize Sikh military history, often at the expense of Afghans who have fought numerous battles with one another as well as other Indian groups. He has been evading his block since April last year through a combination of sock accounts, IPs that geolocate to Pittsburgh or Pennsylvania, and proxies-some of which have a listed ISP of FedEx, to bully and harass user and steamroll a religious nationalist agenda. KamalAfghan is on a list of his users that he regularly targets- see [5] and you can see this IP was blocked for 6 months for block evasion + [6] + [7].
He has also been posting on your talk page for a while now regarding KamalAfghan-[8] & [9] and [10] and coressponding 2601:547 block log for block evasion. Southasianhistorian8 (talk) 11:04, 11 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
This is all awaiting SPI clerk review at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/HaughtonBrit. Note that you didn't sign your evidence in the last report on that page, Suthasianhistorian8.-- Ponyobons mots 18:38, 11 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Ponyo, I strongly suspect that this user is using sly tricks to try to decieve admins into expediting the SPI on KamalAfghan. Firstly, the IP who filed the SPI is a 2601:547 range, the same ranges that have been hounding me since April 2023 and have been blocked numerous times for block evasion-[11].
Now, there is a proxy claiming to be Khan Dildar, making an obvious attempt to try to get admins to check the accounts and get them blocked for sock/meatpuppetry. HaughtonBrit, along with logged out editing, has been abusing proxies for years now, and directly confronting me with them on numerous pages recently. It almost certainly seems to be HaughtonBrit's usual tactics.
It's sad that such deception and harassment is being allowed unabated without any consequences. Southasianhistorian8 (talk) 07:06, 22 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

They also are using an IP "2.97.105.248" to block evade. See User talk:Rolo891. Trailblazer101 (talk) 23:40, 10 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Their immaturity makes them exceedingly obvious as a sock (which was what caused me to suspect the connection between Spj and Rolo in the first place). If they evade the block start an SPI and ping me. Note that these are checkuser blocks, so I cannot confirm connections between accounts and IPs.-- Ponyobons mots 23:56, 10 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Roger that. Thanks for the tip! Trailblazer101 (talk) 23:58, 10 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Verdis

Hello Ponyo, I was hoping that you may lift the ban on the article "Verdis". I was hoping to create an article on the developing micronation, but when I attempted to do so it said you restricted it. I think creating an article for the Free Republic of Verdis would be a good thing for wikipedia. It has been gaining more and more attention and has even been recognized by at least one UN member. There are also a large number of people who have already become citizens and more and more support is coming in to help its development. I also think it would be important to discuss Croatia's questionable actions to those who are in Verdis. I hope you consider my request. Thank you. Have a nice day. Chaconut (talk) 18:18, 12 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

(talk page watcher) @Chaconut: You should be able to use WP:AFC to create Draft:Verdis and submit it for a review. Then someone could move it into place over the protection. Please read WP:BACKWARD and WP:42 to gain a full understanding of what's required. - UtherSRG (talk) 18:25, 12 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict) The consensus of the community was to not have an article on the subject, only a redirect to Croatia–Serbia border dispute. You might want to put something together at Draft:Verdis or expand on the information at Croatia–Serbia border dispute#Micronational claims.-- Ponyobons mots 18:26, 12 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
How would I be able to put something together at Draft:Verdis if it is protected? I can't do anything with it since I am not an admin. Would I be able to create one in a sandbox and submit it somewhere to be reviewed and/or be able to nominate it in Articles for Creation to try and overturn the previous ruling? Chaconut (talk) 18:32, 12 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, I didn't realize that the draft still had protection on it. I've undone that now.-- Ponyobons mots 18:37, 12 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Had Ponyo not replied, yes, you could have created a draft in your sandbox. - UtherSRG (talk) 18:57, 12 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite IP block

Hey, Ponyo, I was checking the list of IP blocks for unrelated reasons, when I saw that you had blocked 66.97.20.90 indefinitely. Was that intentionally indef? Writ Keeper  16:18, 19 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Whoooops! Rookie error! I've fixed it now.-- Ponyobons mots 16:30, 19 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Echo1Charlie

Hi Ponyo. I know you took action against Echo1Charlie recently for breaking the 3RR rule, however they are back edit warring on the same article again, despite not having consensus for the said edit and the dissenting arguments presented by two other users. Unfortunately, they seem to have the impression they are above the rules applied for everyone else, and the block you initially placed did not have the intended effect. Thanks, Mar4d (talk) 07:56, 20 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, the first edit they made after the block was lifted is, ironically, a revert... Mar4d (talk) 08:11, 20 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

About the page: Dilip Shanghvi.

A particular user has been deleting content without any proofs. When confronted him with the proper sources, he does not listen and continues to do the same. I have warned and reported him on his user page and the notice board, but he changes his IP address and vanadalizes again and again. Even the auto accept has tired me, because i have to keep a watch on the page and always undo the edits made by him. Help KRFAAR (talk) 21:03, 20 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Another admin has protected the article for a long spell.-- Ponyobons mots 17:55, 22 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Rock Musicals

Re deletion of content relating to the musical Anything and Everything: How can we achieve consensus for this, as you suggest? What is it about the references provided that are insufficient to support inclusion of this musical? Wikipedia standards do not require a reference from an ISBN publication etc. Dickie323 (talk) 02:21, 25 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Dickie323: The methods for achieving consensus were linked in my edit summary, and I've also included it here, for reference. Wikipedia standards require sources for challenged content to be reliable, and if your content or its sourcing is disputed, as it was by Ssilvers in this case, then consensus determines whether the content is included. Also, per WP:ONUS, the onus is on the individual wishing to add or restore disputed content to achieve consensus. Bottom line, the content you wish to add could very well eventually be added to the article, you just need to have others agree.-- Ponyobons mots 18:19, 25 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Way to...

You're totally misunderstanding. GH has been called out for deleting huge amounts of material. I was the one who brought it to the site's attention. Summerdays1 (talk) 23:04, 8 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I am not misunderstanding. I see a new (?) editor displaying a WP:BATTLEGROUND attitude on various pages, dipping into personal attack territory repeatedly. It needs to stop.-- Ponyobons mots 23:06, 8 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Ponyo, if you are referencing an editor who doesn't think that a country of origin matters or place of manufacturing, they won't listen to facts. They talk about article size and splitting, not understanding how it works. Article talk pages get hardly any attention Rather than commending me for finding an editor that is damaging the site(and still getting away with it) you want to say I am doing something. I might ask you if a small group of editors went around Wikipedia making articles much smaller because people had questioned the size of the articles, then what? So GH should just get a slap on the wrist and go on making a giant number of edits (probably 20 to 40 percent bad ones)? Summerdays1 (talk) 23:17, 8 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
What you are describing is a content dispute, and the ways to deal with a content dispute are described at WP:DR. You are blowing things way out or proportion and lashing out at your perceived opponent on various talk pages, including here. This is not how disputes are handled on this project.-- Ponyobons mots 23:22, 8 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It's the scale or scope we're talking about. These are the articles in question-and there are about ten more since that time. I know you are busy but were you to look at them you would see this isn't a simple dispute. GH has been told several times not to edit a certain way. Some of the categories covered are American academia and politicians, colleges and universities, and British biographies. It's not one or even four articles in a certain genre.
