He was 73 years of age, having been .born in Berlin in 1846. In 1849 he came to South Australia with his parents. His father, the late Mr. F. A. During the subsequent nine years he was a storekeeper at Friedrichswalde, after which he returned to Adelaide. In 1879 he opened a store in Pirie street and at the same time became sole agent for Spring Vale wines, then manufactured by C. A. Sobels for the late Mr. J. M. Richman (owner of the estate). In 1890 Messrs. Buring and Sobels joined forces, and purchased the Spring Vale vineyards. Buring was President of the Vinegrowers' Association in 1896, and a member of the council for many years.
