Lisa Alward (born 1962) is a Canadian writer based in Fredericton, New Brunswick, whose debut short story collection Cocktail was published by Biblioasis in 2023.[1]
Originally from Halifax, Nova Scotia,[2] she was educated at the University of Toronto and Queen Mary University of London, and worked in publishing for many years, returning to creative writing only after turning 50 in 2012.[3]
She was the winner of The Fiddlehead's Short Fiction Prize in 2015 for her short story "Cocktail",[2] and The New Quarterly('s Peter Hinchcliffe Award for Short Fiction in 2016 for her story "Old Growth".[3] Both stories are included in Cocktail, which was published in September 2023.[4]
Cocktail was named to the initial longlist for the 2024 Carol Shields Prize for Fiction.[5]
