Template:WP MMOG

Unification Wars

at the bottom of the list this game is discussed. I changed the text from a very onesided statement of "One of the best games online today" to "An online game". as I know little else about this game I at the moment I just put a simple objective statement to replace the biased statement. please feel free to add to this if you know more about this game.

maid marian

does that count as a MMORPG? Its sometimes refered to as a chatroom....

Articles for deletion This article was nominated for deletion on 1 November 2006. The result of the discussion was no consensus.

I forward that motion, this is really just a sub-category. webjockey 21:35, 7 December 2006 (UTC)

I don't see why this hasn't already been done - they can easily be in one article, and I think the merge should be done ASAP. Anyone else? Beno1000 21:12, 9 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

If we can come up with a general set of categories to be agreed upon I can merge the two. I was thinking something like 3D sub Free to Play; Pay to Play; Free Trial; Open Beta; Closed Beta; Development and then have the same subs for 2D and Browser-Based. The problem I see is the article getting too large. Maybe have a disambiguation page with links to List of 2D MMOGs and List of 3D MMOGs? That would cut the list a lot to make the articles smaller. I also think it should be renamed to MMOG, as the line of MMORPGs is fine, and MMOGs will include all gray areas. --Odie5533 22:16, 11 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Wouldn't it make sense to have this -- and the List of MMORPGs entry -- simply as categories?
I agree. Let's merge. Tarinth 22:54, 24 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Absolutely. Any games on this list that don't have a Wikipedia article should be removed anyway, Wikipedia is not a link repository. --McGeddon 14:40, 15 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

GunBound

Unless they killed the old GunBound and made a totally new game in its place, GunBound is NOT an MMORPG in ANY sense of the term. Therefore, I removed it from the article. Viltris 21:12, 5 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Not a real Game!

Renaissance War is not a active game! Plus they do not even have an content or screen shots displayed on thier website, which is only two pages... I am removing it from the article. Deleted the following:

Renaissance War

Renaissance War (RW) is a Java based 3-D MMORPG. You can create your own character and search a vast online world where you can fight, do quests, improve skills, meet new people, trading and more. Currently Java Xperts is planning to include these skills at release; Mining, Smithing, Woodcutting, Hunting, Range, Fishing, Cooking, and Magic. This MMORPG is browser based, which means no downloads are required. Currently no images have been released as the game is under development.

Free?

Reading through this list, a lot of the games aren't wholly 'free'. A lot of them have items and additional features that must be paid for, or optional subscription services. I feel that these games should have a note about this in the article. 172.203.28.168 13:42, 16 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

What is considered free?

As long as the client if free and there is no subscription fee, a player could continually play a game without paying a single cent. In this situation the game could be considered "free". Cash shop items are optional. If you think about it very few mmorpg's could be considered completely "free", since this would cost the maker money without any source of profit. MrTrubak 13:42, 22 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

A "free" MMORPG is one that has no subscription fee. Premium items or expansion packs do enhance the game, but are not required, and the game is quite playable without it. Eridani 19:14, 24 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Deleting Two Games

Adventure quest is NOT an MMORPG, and Gate to Heaven's servers are closed down. Djsonik 01:04, 30 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I'm removing it. I hate that people call this Multiplayer when it isn't. The closest these guys have got is DragonFable, but that's not even got proper PvP... The Knight Of Itan 11:34, 8 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Eternal Lands

I believe Eternal Lands is free. Should it be added to the list?

Yeah, If its free, put it in the article. Next time, sign your comments with four tildes (~). --Djsonik 00:49, 8 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

"Low Tech" MMORPGs

Shouldn't the browser-based section have a subsection for Low Tech RPGs like Kingdom of Loathing? There are enough of them that if they were all added it would be kind of clunky looking, and I imaging that KoL and Urban Dead, both excellent games, fall in a different category than Runescape.

As of November 6, 2006, all unnamed links (1,2,3,4...etc) has been renamed to the hyperlink location. Cleanup suggestion removed but discussion/advert notice is kept.

Eve Online

Qualifies for 3d -> Free Trial inclusion. Someone with more time write something up please --feba 22:29, 5 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Samurai War

Needs to be rewritten. I won't argue it's inclusion, but what's written now seems NPOV --feba 22:45, 5 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Cleanup

This article needs to be cleaned up. Alot of it reads like an advertisement. Timekeeper 01:23, 1 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

OGame

I added OGame, a browser-based, text-based space game.

Habbo Hotel

If Entropia Universe is considered free, then I think it would be right to add Habbo Hotel. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Bugatti wikipedio (talkcontribs) 14:41, 12 January 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Zelderex / Cleanup

Zelderex moved here from a standalone page. Also tried to rearrange and do some minor cleaning with regards to enthusing advert text. With regards to the merging, the problem is that List of MMORPGs is just that, a list with links, whereas right now this article contains several games that don't warrant a full Wiki page, so have information but no Wikipedia link. As and when the merge goes ahead, I would propose using this article's layout, with with any game that already has an article in Wikipedia just saying "See main article" - if it were all shifted over to the other page a lot of information would be lost from the non-wiki'd games because there's nothing to link their place in the list to. As this page stands right now, there's a lot of duplicated information for games that do have an article, which is making the page bloated. Slavedriver 13:13, 13 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Expand

Will someone please add "Myth War Online" & "Dofus" to the 2D list? ^_^

OGame No Longer Free To Play?

I think that OGame should be removed from the list. A new feature called "Officers" was added recently which give whoever buys them an advantage over those who can't, so those who can't afford to buy them are disadvantaged. --Heruur 23:41, 17 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

List of games NOT accurate, it includes NON-free games!

This list has games that are NOT really FREE!!! --Cordially, Abelius 18:23, 22 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Though this feature has been added, the game is still free to play. extra features which one has to pay for in many other games can give them a distinct advantage. It should stay on the list —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Emorej717 (talkcontribs) 00:43, 18 March 2007 (UTC).[reply]

I think NOT

It shan't be merged. A lot of people want to find free games to play, and this article is better oranized. It shows a picture for most of the games, and it has a couple paragraphs of information about it. Although, for the List of MMORPGs, it just shows the name of it, the genre for some, and if it is free, and its style (text, 2D, 3D, etc.). This would be much better alone how it is, and also it would get way ttttttoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo big. The article is long enough, and if they are merged we will lost the great format of this article. PLEASE DO NOT MERGE THEM!!! I thank you greatly,PЄ|>ρ3® 00:21, 9 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. Free and non-free MMO's are almost 2 entirely different kind of games. Besides, everyone knows the big games, like WoW, Star Wars Galaxies, Auto Assault, etc... This list should be kept up for people looking for free MMO's. Eridani 19:18, 24 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Shadowbane isn't free...

Free to play, but you have to buy the entire CD. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Sega31098 (talkcontribs) 02:48, 12 March 2007 (UTC).[reply]

False. Shadowbane is 100% free, was once free, but isn't anymore. They just recently came out with in-game ads. PЄ|>ρ3® 02:19, 13 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Cops & Robbers Online

I've removed Cops & Robbers Online from the list under the terms of WP:NOT, since it's clearly a self-styled advertisement, has no Wikipedia page, and isn't in any usable state - in fact, from what I see, they've got nothing at all, not even a working beta. Please feel free to re-add it when the game fulfills the necessary conditions for being on the list, but until then I don't think it belongs here. Kouen 15:57, 17 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Star Wars Combine

The section on List_of_free_MMORPGs#Star_Wars_Combine really reads like an ad, perhaps cleanup is in order? OSborn 06:47, 22 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I second that. It's embarrassing.

=Absolute Terror

List_of_free_MMORPGs#Absolute_Terror reads a little like an ad. Perhaps changing it up to sound like more of an unbiased summary would do?
