Career

Kezala served as a Nursing Officer at both Mulago National Referral Hospital and Jinja Regional Referral Hospital from 1965 to 1968.[citation needed]

From 1977 to 2008, Kezala served as a lecturer in the; Faculty of Medicine at Nairobi University, department of Nursing at Botswana University, faculty of Health Sciences at Namibia University and Institute of Public Health at Makerere University. Kezala served as an Associate Professor in the Department of Nursing at Cuttington University. He was an external examiner for the Department of Nursing at Zambia University.[citation needed]

From 1980 to 1995, Kezala served as World Health Organisation (WHO) Consultant working on Primary Health Care (PHC) Protocols Development and Implementation in Liberia, Sierre Leone, Gambia, Cote D’Ivore, Ghana, Nigeria, Namibia, Zimbabwe, and Geneva.[citation needed]

In 1985, Kezala served as a consultant for the World Health Organization (WHO) consultant[9][3] at Cuttington University College (CUC) in the Division of Nursing.[9]

In 1991, Kezala was the UNDP Consultant who served as the Chief Technical Advisor (CTA) for Human Resources Development for the Ministry of health and Social services in Namibia.[citation needed]

In 1996, Kezala served as the Chairman for Evaluation Team for Evaluation of the Formal Mid-Project Evaluation of the Masters of Public Health Programme of the Institute of Public Health at Makerere University.[citation needed]

In 1998, Kezala co-founded the International Institute of Health of Health Sciences, Uganda in 1998 in Jinja together with his wife Margaret Taitika Kezala. In 2001, International Institute of Health of Health Sciences was classified as a medical institute by Ministry of Education and Sports which issued with an operational license together with the Nurses and Midwives council.[1][6][3]

from 1999 to date (as on 2024), Kezala has been serving as the Executive director for International Institute of Health of Health Sciences in Uganda.[10] He also served as an associate professor and principal for International Institute of Health of Health Sciences.[2]

Kezala was the Chairman for Health Management Committee for Jinja Municipal Council from 1999 to 2006. He served as the chairman board for the Uganda Nurses and Midwives Examinations Board (UNMEB) from 2010 to 2016.[4][5][11][12][13]

Kezala served as a Principal of Health Tutors’ College Kampala, at the Ministry of Health in the government of Uganda from 1973 to 1977 and as a member of the Governing Council Health Tutors’ College - Makerere University from 2010 to 2016.[citation needed]

In 2016, Kezala led a comittee that was going to review the annual action plans on an annual basis to ensure successful implementation of the strategic plan under the support that was offered to Uganda Private Health Training Institutions Association (UPHTIA) by the USAID/Uganda private Health Support Program for 5 years.[14]

In 2021, Kezala lodged in a Copyright or neighbouring rights registration application for his works "Research guidelines for student nurses and wives" and "application of scientific principles in patient care" with registrar of Copyright.[15]

Kezala is serving as the chairman of the Uganda Private Health Training Insitutions Association(UPHTIA) from 2011 to date (As on 2024).[7][14]

Kezala inauguarated as the president of Rotary Club of Jinja succeeding Mutyabule Wanume on the 30 June 2001 and served from 2001 to 2002.[16] He also served as the Assistant Governor Eastern Region of Uganda, District 9200 Rotary International from 2005 to 2007.[citation needed]

Kezala also served as the; Secretary General for Busoga Kingdom from 1997 to 1998; Secretary General of The AIDS Support Organization (TASO) Uganda from 1999 to 2005; Chairman Jinja College Parents Association from 2005 to 2007; Chairman Fairland University Council in Jinja from 2008 to 2010; Vice Chairman of Governing Council of Namasagali University from 2009 to 2010; Vice Chairperson of the Governing Council of St. Gonzaga Secondary School, Kagoma in Jinja District from 2011 to 2016.[citation needed]

Personal life

Kezala is married to Margaret Taitika Kezala with whom they have with Six Children.[1][citation needed]

Awards and recognitions

  • Kezala was a facilitator in Suacoco District at the The West African College of Nursing (WACN)/ Strengthening Health Delivery System (SHDS) curriculum workshop.[9]

Research and publications

  • In 2015, Kezala presented a paper titled at the "Assessment of Nursing and Midwifery Students in Uganda: The UNMEB Experience" The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Conference.[17]
