The Burke Invitational Gauntlet, previously known as the NWA Women's Invitational Cup Gauntlet, is a professional wrestling match utilized by the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA), which is formatted in a Gauntlet match. The match, named after Mildred Burke,[1] features a number of wrestlers who would participate in a Gauntlet match, where the winner would earn a shot for the NWA World Women's Championship.[1][2]

History

On July 13, 2021, during the press conference for NWA EmPowerrr and NWA 73rd Anniversary Show, it was announced that on EmPowerrr, an NWA Women's Invitational Cup Gauntlet would take place, where the winner would get a NWA World Women's Championship match at the anniversary show day after.[3] On July 21, the producer of EmPowerrr Mickie James, revealed the rules for the match, in which two competitors would begin the match and a new competitor would enter every 2 minutes. Eliminations would be by pinfall, submission, or over the top rope.[2] On August 28, at EmPowerrr, Chelsea Green became the first Gauntlet winner.[4]

On August 26, 2023, during the first night of the NWA 75th Anniversary Show, the Gauntlet match returned under the name Burke Invitational Gauntlet, honoring the nearly two-decade champion Mildred Burke.[1]
