An article I created was highjacked, so I recreated the article and it got deleted.

An article I created in 2018 downball was hijacked, so I recreated the article last month as down-ball and it got deleted. I handled the AfD Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Down-ball and Deletion Review Wikipedia:Deletion_review/Log/2024_July_5#Down-ball like a newb which resulted in my article staying deleted and moved back to the draft space. Draft:Downball_(wall_and_ball_game) It was not a good experience and left me quite flat for a short time.

I've been taking part in a number of AfDs recently and am interested in looking into how others who nom AfDs vote and whether they have created many articles. You appear to be one of those who nom AfDs but have been quite prolific in creating articles too.

I'd like to ask for your input. Now it seems to me that the best thing to do is to undo the downball hijack. Any advice appreciated? thanks, Rockycape (talk) 03:11, 23 July 2024 (UTC)

HBC AIV helperbot14 down?

Stuck again? At AIV Yurikhunt123, Anon10210 and the last IP have been blocked for half an hour now without removal (permalink).

Oddly it works when the range in the template is already blocked (bad example: diff, from a user talk post).

I'll just say that this situation mentioned in the user talk already happened with the previous bot, and while it could be improved - I'm not asking for that (just using it as an example of the bot working with a range IP in the template). – 2804:F1...E9:11BA (talk) 06:55, 26 July 2024 (UTC)

Indeed, but PWB doesn't recognise a range as a anonymous user, so won't bother trying to handle it nicely. Now, I'll add some handling to it, but I think I'm going to struggle to handle it without an elaborate use case for something that seems to be rare. Mdann52 (talk) 07:43, 26 July 2024 (UTC)

HBC AIV Helperbot 14 removing partially blocked users from AIV

Please see [1] [2] [3] [4]. The bot was repeatedly removing users with a partial block who were vandalizing on pages outside of their partial block. I ended up reporting to WP:ANI instead. Beagall (talk) 18:47, 11 August 2024 (UTC)

Hm, tricky one. I've deployed a change, will monitor and see what difference it makes. Unfortunately, partial blocks are presented to me as if they are full ones, and it's difficult to detect without going into detail on the logs. Mdann52 (talk) 20:14, 14 August 2024 (UTC)

@Geraldo Perez: hopefully sorted. For info in the future, the bot will only remove items with the {{vandal}} template, so you can bypass the auto-clerking by using other templates and/or subst'ing if appropriate (but I don't know how messy that template is when you do that!)
