"The Emperor's Quest" was the second episode of Dragon Ball. The Japanese title was "Arararaa! No Balls!" and first aired on March 5, 1986.

Brief summary

Without realising where they are Bulma and Goku camp near Skull Valley, a forbidden land where one of the dragonballs lies hidden. Emperor Pilaf dispatches his henchmen to recover the ball, but they and Goku run into each other and a pack of ravenous wolves.

Detailed synopsis

As the last episode left off Goku and Bulma continue their journey to find the 7 dragonballs. Bulma throws a Dyno-cap and a house appears. When they walk inside Bulma switches the lights on and Goku is shocked because he has never seen electricity before. Bulma thinks it is funny and turns on the TV. Goku thinks there is a little person inside the tv. Bulma changes the channel to a soap opera. While Bulma has hearts in her eyes Goku changes the channel to a Godzilla like movie and gives Bulma a fright. Goku walks over to Bulma, she tells Goku he smells and needs a bath. Goku doesn’t know what a bath is. Bulma is shocked he doesn’t know what a bath is and has to show him what it is. Bulma sees Goku’s tail is still attached and asks if it’s super-glued to his lower back. She tries to take it off to wash his back Goku says it’s ok he will wash his own back and he uses his tail to wash his back. Bulma realises he has a real tail and screams. Goku tells Bulma that all boys have tails and Bulma thinks maybe he is right because she has never seen a boy there and thinks they must keep their tails tucked away. Then Goku tells her that his Grandpa never had a tail so that maybe all boys don’t have tails. But Goku says his Grandpa was weird anyway. Later Bulma decides to take a bath as well Goku walks in on Bulma asking if she needs help to wash her back because she doesn’t have a tail. Bulma tells Goku to scram and Goku asks Bulma why she has butts on her chest. (Referring to her breasts) Bulma tells Goku not to be stupid. Meanwhile at Emperor Pilaf’s castle Mai returns and says she as not found any dragonballs but has good information that someone had seen a glowing light and they think it might be a dragonball. Pilaf tells both Mai and Shu to go to see if the light is a dragonball. Back where Goku and Bulma were staying, Goku and Bulma were eating. Goku didn’t like the food and decided to go hunting. Mai and Shu were flying in an aeroplane above where Goku was hunting. Goku thinks the plane is a giant bird to eat. When Mai and Shu land they find the glowing light. When they go to check it out Goku finds the plane he thinks is a bird and comes across Mai and Shu. The 3 of them hear growling and then they see many glowing lights. It turns out they were wolves. Goku wants to eat them and Mai and Shu run off. Goku kills all the wolves while Mai and Shu take off in the plane. Goku thinks his bird is getting away and makes his power pole extend and kicks the plane making Mai and Shu crash. Goku realizes it was too hard to be a bird. Goku goes back to Bulma and tells her that he caught a centipede and a wolf. Bulma screams and Goku ends up roasting the centipede and wolf on a fire outside. Goku wants to sleep in Bulma’s bed and Bulma tells him to sleep on the floor. When the sun rises Goku wakes up and sees Bulma stretched out on her bed. Goku jumps up on Bulma’s bed while she is still sleeping and Goku says it reminds him of when he would sleep with his head on his Grandpa’s lap. Goku puts his head on Bulma’s lap and says it feels like there is nothing there. He removes her panties and starts screaming to Bulma that she has no balls. Bulma thinks he is talking about the Dragonballs. Bulma thinks he must have had a bad dream because she sees the Dragonballs are still there. Later on Goku says he is going outside to exercise. He starts picking up rocks and breaking them. He goes to pick up another rock but instead he picks up a sea turtle. Bulma walks outside to see who Goku is talking to and sees the turtle and asks why he is there when he should be out at sea and gets him some salt water. He tells them he got lost from sea over a year ago and has been trying to find his way home since. Bulma gets a map out to see how far away the sea is and tells him it is 120 kilometers away. Goku offers to carry him to the ocean because he is faster. Bulma doesn’t want to waste any time away from searching for the other dragonballs and tells Goku he can’t. Bulma says she will search for the dragonballs alone and Goku takes the turtle back to the sea. Bulma looks behind her and sees dinosaurs and is too scared to stay there alone. She chases after Goku on her motorcycle and decides to go with them.
