Leroy Augustus Stafford was a brigadier general during the American Civil War.
Early Life
Leroy A. Stafford was born on Greenwood plantation, near Cheneyville, Rapides parish, Louisiana, USA, on April 13th, 1822. He was the eldest son of Leroy Satfford and his second wife, Elizabeth Calliham. His father died when he was 13 years old. He was educated at Bardstown, Ketucky and went to college in Nashville, Tennesse. He returned to Louisiana and married Sarah Wright when he was 21 in 1843.
