Founded in 1989, 80/20 Inc. operates completely out of a more than 135,000-square-foot facility in Columbia City, Indiana. 80/20 Inc. is a family owned business founded by Don Wood and his two sons Doug and John Wood. 80/20 Inc. employees over 220 full time personnel working with three shifts that help them to meet their 24-hour shipment statement.

80/20 Inc. T-Slotted Aluminum Profiles

T-slotted aluminum is manufactured through an extruding process. There are a variety of recipes that manufacturers' use in formulating their aluminum. 80/20 Inc. uses 6105-T5 aluminum. 80/20 Inc. believes that this formula delivers the best yield strength, a yield strength equivalent to that of A36 Carbon Steel. Besides being strong, it is also easily machined which reduces waste. As the aluminum is pushed through the extrusion die, it takes on its shape. The integral T-slots create the foundation for the profile's assembly technology. By using any combination of fasteners, connectors or joining plates, or accessories it is possible to build almost any shaped frame.

80/20 Inc. supplies T-slotted profiles in two measurements, Fractional (Inch) and Metric. These two profile groups are comprised of size specific profile series.

80/20 Inc. metric profiles are available in five profile series.
20 Series 20mm (10mm from the edge of the profile to the centerline of the T-slot)
25 Series 25mm (12.5mm from the edge of the profile to the centerline of the T-slot)
30 Series 30mm (15mm from the edge of the profile to the centerline of the T-slot)
40 Series 40mm(20mm from the edge of the profile to the centerline of the T-slot)
45 Series 45mm (22.5mm from the edge of the profile to the centerline of the T-slot).

80/20 Inc. Accessories

80/20 Inc. also provides accessories that are specific to each of their framing systems. Over the past fourteen years 80/20 Inc. has offered a free plug-in design software for AutoCAD. The most current version of this software is called AutoQuoterX. This software allows users to design frames using only 80/20 Inc. T-slotted profiles and most matching accessories. When a design is finished, a user can then generate a bill of materials of the product used in that design.

80/20 Inc. also has a free profile stress calculator that can be used to figure the stress a given load will place on an 80/20 Inc. T-slotted profile. 80/20 Inc. calls this software Deflection CalculatorX. This calculator will also figure the profiles deflection and column load stress. A measurement converter is also included with the Delfection CalculatorX software.
