IBISWorld

History

IBISWorld has its origin in the formation of IBIS Research Services in 1971, which operated as a successful market research organization. IBISWorld later specialised in the long range forecasting of industries and the business environment at large, with an emphasis on providing information for strategic planning and research purposes.

For the last 12 years, IBISWorld has produced many searchable databases using the latest technology at each stage. The latest version of the IBISWorld web site went on-line in August 2006. The site incorporates all of IBISWorld's accumulated experience to deliver value-added information solutions to US and international businesses.

IBISWorld extensively covers every industry, the major enterprises in those industries and the business conditions they face for selected economies, providing strategic and tactical business environment information.

It started producing reports on 720 U.S. industries in 2003 and has sales teams in six U.S. cities, generating 40% of 2006--07 revenue. Last July it set up a joint venture with a Chinese research company to produce reports on around 200 of China's industries to sell outside China to a world transfixed by the country's booming growth--and wanting a slice of the action.
