Methacton High School (MHS) is a public high school located in Eagleville, Pennsylvania that serves students in grades 9-12 from Worcester and Lower Providence townships.

History

The school was founded in 1961. The origin of the school's name is believed to be an American Indian term for Windy Hill.[1]

Extracurriculars

In addition to the clubs and activities found in most high schools, Methacton High School has some unique extracurricular organizations.

  • Methacton Electric Car Club — explores alternative energy transportation. The club has built an electric car.
  • Warrior News Team — produces news programs, including morning announcements.
  • Model United Nations - Methacton is the only public school in the Delaware Valley that has a Model UN team and competes at DELMUN.
  • Key Club - Promotes community service as a branch of the Kiwanis Club. Activities include the annual March for Babies.
  • Academic Decathlon - A club based on academic competition in ten subjects-Math, Language and Literature, Art, Music, Economics, Science, Social Science, Speech, Essay, and Interview

Athletics

Methacton teams currently compete in the Pioneer Athletic Conference. Up until the 2008-2009 school year, teams had competed in the Suburban One Athletic League.

The Methacton Field Hockey team was the first sport to clinch the PAC-10, or Pioneer Athletic Conference, championship title, in fall 2008. In the prior year, the field hockey team made their first journey, in a number of years, to the State Championship, and lost in the first round to Emmaus.
