My name is Scott Alberts, and I teach [[statistics]] and [[interdisciplinary studies]] at [[Truman State University]]. I am involved in various student and faculty organizations at Truman. I am the faculty adviser for the student senate and I coordinate a weekly faculty/student crossword puzzle lunch. I like to crunch [[numbers]], [[compare]] tables, [[read]], and [[fight]] [[injustice]] (though I recognize this as a [[subjective]] and culturally [[relative]] concept). I bend [[space]] and [[time]] beyond the [[limits]] of your mind. I stop [[human beings]] from hurting [[fellow]] human beings based on perceivably [[natural]] concepts and normalized [[institutions]]. I continually [[save]] the [[world]] from its own [[regimes]]-- most of the time it doesn't recognize my awesomeness, but I don't need [[validation]]. I teach the [[second sight]] [[technique]], [[the force]], action, in the underground we call it [[liberation]]. When my skills are put to the test, my [[soul]] does the rest. I don't cower, I [[progress]]. |

I make it a habit of eating [[chocolate]] [[ice cream]] every day after my [[tuna salad]] [[sandwich]], but not before brewing my favorite [[oolong]] tea. However, on occasion the oolong harvest is not quite as hardy as one with an expert taste for exquisite teas would expect. During those difficult times, I usually [[revert]] back to the substandard [[Twinnings]] [[Earl Grey]] king of the tea world. After tea time, I love to immerse my self in the amazingly [[explosive]] in-depth media coverage found in the [[New York Times]]. |

During Fall 2006, I used Wikipedia as part of my class on interdisciplinarity. It's either a really cool idea, or not. We'll share what we find at the page for School Projects. You can see what they did on their Lab 2 Assignment.
I tried to do a better job the following fall. I either did or not.
Their stuff has all been moved to separate pages Fall 2006 and Fall 2007
JINS 352
Every spring semester, I teach an interdisciplinary studies class for Junior-level students. The goal of the class is for students to gain an understanding of and appreciation for the use of various disciplines on a variety of subjects. These classes use Wikipedia in a very similar way to my fall classes, but to a lesser extent. User:GumbyProf/Spring08 has the most recent year.
