The elections to the Austrian National Council of May 13 1956 were the first elections after the conclusion of the Austrian State Treaty. The coalition between the ÖVP (led by Julius Raab) and the SPÖ (led by Adolf Schärf) was continued.
The FPÖ, founded in 1955, replaced the VdU (Federation of Independents) on the ballot.
