Seeking Help

Hi Javert: I am trying to create a page on a Finance Professor whose research has influenced me .He has held/holds really high level academic positions equivalent of Dean/Head/President/ViceChancellor/Director. He fits the Criteria # 6 of Notability in Academics. The title of page is S P PARASHAR. Even after putting around 50 genuine references and 8 external links it keeps showing that – (This article may not meet the notability guideline for academics. Please help to establish notability by adding reliable, secondary sources about the topic. If notability cannot be established, the article is likely to be merged or deleted.)

My response in the discussion of the article is This Person meets the Notability in Academics Criteria # 6: Person holds or has held Major Highest Level Elected or Appointed Academic Post at an academic institution: Dr Parashar was appointed Director Highest Level Academic Post at Indian Institute of Management Indore, Top level Business School giving MBA in India. This News was posted by National Newspaper Times of India. See link: http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/articleshow/587457.cms - Title of the News: Parashar to be IIM Indore's new full time director. Other links confirming the fact he was appointed and worked at Highest Academic Post in Academic Institution: http://www.intellectbooks.co.uk/journals/view-Contributor,a=P/view-Contact-Page,id=18355 AND http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/articleshow/msid-3532603,flstry-1.cms.

Please Guide I will really appreciate your help. Thank you – ariesindus Ariesindus (talk) 01:20, 16 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Man, you get all the requests. I demand a recount! Abce2|This isnot a test 03:35, 16 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I apologise that it took me so long to get back to you, but I haven't had much free time lately due to exams and homework. Anyway, it seems the page has been deleted since you posted this question to my talk. However, since it was deleted per your request, you can have it restored to your user space and then I can see if I can help you with it, if you're interested. Sound good? Regards, Javért 21:10, 18 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Pour toi

The Special Barnstar
For making superb userboxen in double-quick (like, 3 minutes flat) time! – B.hoteptalk21:33, 18 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Aw, cool beans! Thanks, Bubba. I thought I made a userbox, tho.. ;) Javért 21:24, 18 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Oops, perhaps I was stuck to my keyboard instead! Changed accordingly, and immortalised on my userpage. – B.hoteptalk21:26, 18 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Hehe, thanks again. I really appreciate it, and am glad you like the box. :) Javért 21:27, 18 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I...AM...INVISIBLE!!!!Abce2|This isnot a test 21:29, 18 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I thought that it made more sense when you didn't sign, thus verifying your invisibility. Javért 21:32, 18 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Had Abce2 made it a <!-- hidden comment -->, that would have been a true invisibility statement which could have earned a barnstar... albeit six days later when the history was unpicked. :P – B.hoteptalk21:46, 18 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

←There really isn't one for making userboxes, is there? So accept the sub instead, please? – B.hoteptalk21:34, 18 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe I should design a barnstar for making userboxes, thus earning the original barnstar that was awarded? ;) Javért 21:38, 18 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
You didn't see anything...oh, and record breaking RFA. No RFA's for 24 hours and counting. Longest time it's been.Abce2|This isnot a test 21:36, 18 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I did see that. Cue the "oh noes RfA is dead" cries. Javért 21:38, 18 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Did you see you were mentioned at WT:RFA though, Javert? – B.hoteptalk21:39, 18 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I did indeed see that. I'm not sure who suggested me, but I was honoured that they would do so. :) Javért 21:45, 18 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I crossed you out *does a dance* Feel free to uncross yourself if you've changed your mind :) - Kingpin13 (talk) 21:47, 18 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
You did the right thing, KP. I think it's just itchy-triggers among the RfA regulars. They have no fresh meat for consideration so they are laying traps into the desert... and everyone I support lately tends to fail so you wouldn't want that on my conscience now, would you? – B.hoteptalk21:50, 18 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict) lol, dancing, eh? ;) No, you made the right call in crossing my name out. Like I was telling Dylan earlier, 4/2010 is the earliest that I see myself running the gauntlet. Regards, Javért 21:52, 18 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Aye, the convo with Dylan was the reason I struck :). - Kingpin13 (talk) 21:54, 18 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

←I feel old because of that. Thanks a lot! :)Abce2|This isnot a test 21:40, 18 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

...invisible. Okay, now to articles for me. It's a long and dangerous journey, filled with beasts such as the troll, the vandal, and the edit war. I might never make it back in one piece. Well, that sums up article editing for me. Happy-er- day...Abce2|This isnot a test 21:58, 18 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I have a hypotheseis for why there's no RFA canidates. The expectations are huge! I mean, I appreciate canidates with editing knowolage, but what does a FA have to do with mopping.Abce2|This isnot a test 22:02, 18 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Nothing at all. You don't need to be a feature article writer to be a capable administrator. Javért 22:03, 18 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
No, meant it as a comparison thing. But I've seen that I'm one of the only ones who acually cares about how the canidate is going to handle conflicts. Abce2|This isnot a test 22:05, 18 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

(edit conflict)Abce2 has hit the nail on the head. What indeed? It goes through phases. I think what people are summising is: people who don't know about editing articles are more prone to abuse the tools because they hang around the shady areas making bad blocks and generally being mean... and they probably do. But you could do that after RfA, so it's all 6 of one and half a dozen of another. Who's to know who would make a good admin? Look at the Pastor Theo situation... if you dare. Puts it all into perspective. – B.hoteptalk22:09, 18 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. You can have great content creators that are great content creators only to pass an RfA. Once they pass an RfA they turn into admins that "hang around shady areas making bad blocks". And then on the other hand you have Ecoleetage, who was another prime example, as Bubba pointed out. Javért 22:12, 18 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I've have more than my fair share of conflicts, considering my luck, so that's one of the reasons I ask that question and look at that area.Abce2|This isnot a test 22:15, 18 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict) I see your point. It's much better to have an admin that is a good negotiator/dispute resolver as opposed to an admin that is going to do nothing but write articles. Writing articles is exceptionally good, and the reason that we are here. However, you don't need the admin tools to write good articles. Javért 22:20, 18 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I only just read the whole story today (look back through my contribs today, there will be a huuuge gap) – goes to show you truly don't know who you are dealing with on a daily basis on here, but I like to think I am a good judge of character – I know who I like, and I like who I know. – B.hoteptalk22:16, 18 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict) Agreed. "Theo" had be fooled, but hindsight being what it is, I look back on his contribs and wonder why I chose to ignore my suspicions. Javért 22:20, 18 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I guess always expect the unexpected.Abce2|This isnot a test 22:18, 18 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Yes. Because he will be back. It's a game to him. And it's a story to tell the children round the campfire. Like a modern day Wiki-bogeyman. It took a brave man to tackle him the first time, and what thanks did he get for that? – B.hoteptalk22:24, 18 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

←Yes, that was a terrible situation. IMHO, tho, Eco is already back. Javért 22:25, 18 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Woh, J-Man! You already took my "he will be back" to new bogeyman levels! I feel the campfire licking at my guitar strings already, and I don't want to go to bed! – B.hoteptalk22:28, 18 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Nice! Are there smores at the campfire? Abce2|This isnot a test 22:29, 18 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Hehe, well, what can I say? I like camp fire stories. :D Javért 22:30, 18 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Did you bring the smores?Abce2|This isnot a test 22:35, 18 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
No, I hate marshmallows. Feel free to bring you own, tho. :) Javért 22:36, 18 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Never mind the smores, Abe. I'll have some more Coors if there's one going. And with that, I retire. With the light on. Sound in the knowledge that the next person who graces my talk page may be the reincarnation of... well, we'll see. Woe betide the next person who graces my talk page... Rhetorical question, Javert, :-P Lord Spongefrog, (I be t' Czar o' all Russias!) 12:20, 20 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Thanks :)

No problem. You might find this vandal funny: Talk:Sermon_on_the_Mount Scroll down to the very bottom where my username is mentioned, apparently the vandal knows about sockpuppets, but not how to create a new section. RandomStringOfCharacters (talk) 22:18, 18 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Now in other news...

Javert, how do your put your sig at the top of your pages like your userpage and talk page?--Coldplay Expert 20:18, 20 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

In the future, I would appreciate you finding the energy to start a new section, hard as that may be. In answer to your question, place: {| style="position:absolute; top:5px; height: 34px; width:100%; padding-bottom:0px; background:#F8FCFF; color:#5d7b63" valign="left" |<big><big><big>insert the code for your signature here{{#switch:{{SUBJECTSPACE}}|User=</div>|}}<div id="trombonator"></div></big></big></big> |} at the top of your user pages. Regards, Javért 20:24, 20 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
You seem to be quite the trend setter Javert (you cannot see from the text, but I now pronounce your name correctly), Lord Spongefrog, (I am the Czar of all Russias!) 20:50, 20 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I do what I can. Credit for the code goes to Nifky?, as he showed me how to do it. Glad to hear you pronounce my name correctly now, m'Lord. :) Regards, Javért 20:51, 20 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
