I changed the place of birth from Crouch End to Lower Holloway because I got a copy of her birth certificate and it is for a ' Birth in the Sub-district of Lower Holloway', Hillmarton Road. It says on the wikipedia page that Lower Holloway is an out of date term now, but it doesn't say its considered part of Crouch End now. In any case Lower Holloway is on the certificate. Hillmarton Road (lots of three story Victorian houses) is London N7 which is actually considered to be part of Islington, not Crouch End, which is a lot further north. Most Londoners would therefore say she was born in Islington. "Lower Holloway" even if it's on the certificate wouldn't really be considered an area of London but Hillmarton road is not far from Holloway Road and Arsenal football stadium. She looks like Audrey Hepburn

Are they related, or distantly or did they know or work with each other. If they did, it should be mentioned in article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.188.204.121 (talk) 05:58, 23 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I suppose in the fifties when she cut her hair short to annoy Howard Hughes there's a passing resemblance. I read somewhere that Jean lost the role in Roman Holiday to Audrey Hepburn, and having seen the film sent Hepburn a telegram praising her performance, saying how good she was in the film. That's the kind of person she was by all accounts. Sayerslle (talk) 15:54, 23 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

First Oscar nomination?

the article mentions her 'second Oscar nomination' but what was her first? Richardson mcphillips1 01:19, 20 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Spartacus55.jpeg

Image:Spartacus55.jpeg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. BetacommandBot (talk) 21:35, 5 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Stewart Granger's autobiography, Sparks Fly Upward, seems an untapped source for this page

Granger was her first husband. The book has constant references to her from page 124 to 313. All are respectful. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Warriga (talkcontribs) 07:16, 13 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Cancer

She is in the Cancer survivors category, yet cancer is not mentioned in the article - does anyone know any details? Nietzsche 2 (talk) 05:45, 1 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

That alone is enough reason to remove it, but in good faith, I've read through a number of sites and news articles about her. No mention of cancer in any of them. I think it should be removed. Rossrs (talk) 08:30, 1 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Death

Getting reports on Twitter that Jean Simmons has died. Friday, January 22, 2010. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.223.54.141 (talk) 02:42, 23 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This might be worth a mention in the article, as it certainly a funny anecdote regarding her time experiences working on Kubrick's 1960 movie.

As would almost invariably be the case on Stanley Kubrick films from then on, the shoot was a slow and arduous one, involving 167 days of filming. At one point Tony Curtis was heard asking Jean Simmons: "Who do I have to screw to get off this film?" Simmons apparently replied: "When you find out, let me know." [2]

American actress?

She may have made her home there for many years, but in what sense was she an American actress? -- Jack of Oz ... speak! ... 05:29, 24 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

OK, I see it's been changed now to say she became a US citizen. A cite wouldn't go astray, though. -- Jack of Oz ... speak! ... 10:23, 24 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
