Please DO NOT merge this article (Interix) with Microsoft Windows Services for UNIX (SFU). SFU is EOL (end-of-life) -- there is no followup release. Interix is one of the components of SFU that is continuing, as it is bundled with the OS. That's what's actually mentioned in the article. It's part of Windows 2003/R2 and is also part of Vista (RTM'ing in a couple weeks). While SFU will, by virtue of hitting EOL, be in a freeze, Interix will not. Additional functionality continues to be added by Microsoft. Uzume 14:30, 9 November 2006 (UTC)

Uzume 14:30, 9 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

release vs. version

Actually I understand quite well the difference between release and version and how it applies to Interix. I listed the version numbers in parentheses after the release information. I shall hold off on putting it back until I can label that better though to reduce confusion. Uzume 12:07, 2 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Requirements

" included only with Vista Ultimate and Enterprise (not other Vista editions) " - This seems to misstate things somewhat. The download link on technet just says that it requires Win2k3+ or Vista, not specific iterations of Vista. Microsoft's site seems to imply that it's just automatically available as an "optional component" in Enterprise and Ultimate. Can't it be installed via the separate download on other builds of Vista? 4.21.108.38 (talk) 16:20, 5 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

For Vista only these two editions can activate this optional feature/component. Other builds cannot installed it (even as a download) Barking (talk) 22:09, 15 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
