Babita Sharma is a British television newsreader, working for the BBC.
Babita can regularly be seen fronting overnight bulletins on the BBC News and BBC World News, presenting the service each Sunday-Tuesday.[1]
Sharma graduated from the University of Wales, where she attained a degree in journalism, film and broadcasting. She began her career with BBC Radio Wales, switching to television presenting for Thames Valley Television.
Sharma then moved to Dubai, working on the radio for Channel 4 FM. She then switched to Ajman TV, scripting, producing and presenting the popular live weekly music show The Twix Mix.
She returned to the UK in 2003 as a travel presenter on BBC Radio Berkshire, and then switching to become a news reporter and producer. She then for two years became a television news reporter for BBC South Today, before training and working as a video journalist for BBC Spotlight Channel Islands for 12 months.
Sharma moved to the BBC News Channel in 2008, initially as presenter of the Your Money programme, as well as reading the business news on Fridays. She took on the main business role in early 2009, before moving to her present overnight position in September 2009.
