Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church is a historic church at 820 Clay Street in Parkersburg, West Virginia.
It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1998. A significant building in the area:
Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church is one of three black churches in Parkersburg. Built in 1887, the two-story, stucco building is a vernacular ecclesiastical interpretation of the Gothic Revival style. Bethel is the oldest black church building in west central West Virginia and is located in a neighborhood of late 19th-century wood frame houses only a block from downtown. Bethel is a quiet sentinel of a settled neighborhood significant in the black history of Wood County.[2]
