Kunawarritji Layout Plan No.1 has been prepared in accordance with State Planning Policy 3.2 Aboriginal Settlements. Layout Plan No.1 was endorsed by the community on 1 February 2004 and the WAPC on 4 May 2004. The Layout Plan map-set and background report can be viewed at http://www.planning.wa.gov.au/2468.asp.

Kunawaritji Community is a location on the Canning Stock Route near Well 33, and also the eastern end of Wapet Road in the Pilbara region of Western Australia.

The name has variant spellings - it is also can be found as Kunnawarritji.

It is an Aboriginal community location [1] which has fuel and supplies in the lower southern part of the Great Sandy Desert, or the western part of the Gibson Desert.

It is in the Martu Determined Native title Area and in the larger area also known as the Western Desert (Australia)
