Thinkalaazhcha Nalla Divasam (English: Monday, an Auspicious Day) is a 1985 Malayalam drama film written and directed by P. Padmarajan. It stars Mammootty, Kaviyoor Ponnamma, Karamana Janardanan Nair and Srividya in pivotal roles. It tells the story of a man who wants to sell his ancestral house and put his mother in an old age home. It won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Malayalam.

Plot

A family in its spacious ancestral house to celebrate their lonely mother's 60th birthday. Jealousy and rivalries erupt focusing on who will inherit the house. The mother is placed in an old age home and later she dies there, leaving the next generation guilty ridden, but their children nevertheless appreciate living in the big house.
