N'Klabe is a Puerto Rican Salsa group formed in 2003.

History

N'Klabe was formed in 2003 by Félix Javier "Felo" Torres. They have released several albums, since their debut album in 2004, Salsa Contra Viento y Marea. They have been entertaining audiences throughout their native Puerto Rico, United States and Latin America. By mixing a variety of urban influences with traditional tropical rhythms and classic salsa N’KLABE has rejuvenated the genre bringing salsa to the next generation. They have grown over the years developing into one of the few voices keeping salsa fresh and vibrant with the objective of inspiring the youth.

Throughout their career, N'Klabe has collaborated with Salsa singers like Gilberto Santa Rosa, Víctor Manuelle, Cheo Feliciano, Ismael Miranda, Luisito Carrión, Brenda K. Starr, and Rey Ruiz, among others.[1] They've also collaborated with reggaeton artists like Voltio, R.K.M & Ken-Y, and Jowell & Randy.[2]

With the release of I Love Salsa! Edición Especial N’Klabe’s international appeal grew as they became the new faces of Salsa. The album featured the group joining voices with some of the genre’s greatest legends. The album spawned two #1 hits, “Amor de Una Noche” featuring Voltio and “I Love Salsa!” composed by superstar Víctor Manuelle who also sung on the top 5 hit “Evitaré”. The album was a huge success opening them up to tour Europe, Central & South America.

Their next album, A Punto de Estallar was released in the fall of 2006 with the huge radio hit “Ella Volvió” again with the participation of Voltio.

The beginning of 2007 brought the group four nominations for Premio Lo Nuestro including Tropical Song of the Year for “Amor De Una Noche”, Tropical Group/Duo Artist of the Year (two nods) and Tropical Album of the Year. They performed a medley of their hits live on the award show.

In 2008, N'Klabe began an international promotional tour, organizing presentations in Peru, Colombia and the United States. In Lima, they performed before a crowd 35,000.[3] In 2008, they played in Switzerland.[4] They've also participated at the Salsa National Day in Puerto Rico, and were part of the concert from the Fania All-Stars.[5]

On their album La Nueva Escuela, the group pays tribute to Salsa veterans like Lalo Rodríguez, Jerry Rivera, Luis Enrique, Eddie Santiago, and others.[6] Included was lead single, “Si Ya No Estas” with the participation of reggeatón stars R.K.M. & Ken-Y. The song mixed English and Spanish verses with salsa and urban sounds. The album also had the radio hits “El Día de tu Suerte (Hoy)” and “Amor de Agua” which featured Gilberto Santa Rosa.

In 2009, the group received three nominations for Premio Lo Nuestro in the categories Tropical/Salsa Artist of the Year, Tropical Group/Duo of the Year and Tropical Album of the Year from the success of La Nueva Escuela.

In November 2011, N'Klabe released the album Aires de Navidad through NuLife Entertainment and Sony Music Latin. The album debuted in the Top 5 of the iTunes Top Latin Album list, along with Romeo Santos, Pitbull, Jenni Rivera, and Vicente Fernández. The title song also peaked at #1 in the Billboard's Latin Tropical Airplay. This was the group's third song to reach that spot, after "Amor de una Noche" and "I Love Salsa". It is also one of the few Holiday songs to peak at #1 on Billboard, and the only group of Salsa to do it in recent years.[7][8]

The success of this project placed them as a finalist for the 2012 Billboard Latin Music Awards in the category Tropical Albums Artist of the Year, Duo/Group. At the 2012 edition of the Billboard Latin Music Conference they launched their La Salsa Vive project with a special showcase during the conference and an invitation to perform at the 10th Annual Billboard Bash.

In May of 2012, N'Klabe reached #1 with their single, "La Banda" on Billboard's Latin Tropical airplay and performed in front of 140,000 fans at the Boca del Rio International Salsa Festival in Veracruz, Mexico.
