Cologno Monzese is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Milan in the Italian region Lombardy, located about 5 km north-east of Milan. Its population is 47567. The population increase took place after the World War II, when lots of immigrants from Southern Italy (especially from Apulia) settled here.

Cologno received the honorary title of city with a presidential decree on September 19, 1996. In this town, there are the studios of many Italian networks, like Mediaset, controlled by Berlusconi, the former Prime Minister of Italy.

Transports

There are three station of Milan underground: Cologno Nord (North), Cologno Centro (Centre) and Cologno Sud (South). The nearest airport is Linate, in Milan, but Malpensa isn't very far. The town is linked up with Milan by the Tangenziale Est, an orbital motorway that surrounds the capital city of Lombardy.

Sights

The most important sights in Cologno are Villa Casati, the seat of the Comune, and San Giuliano, an ancient Romanesque church.

In Cologno Monzese are based the tv studios of Mediaset (the most important italian private tv company), and the studios of some radio networks: RTL 102.5, Radio Italia and Radio TRS.
