I prefer to keep discussions together in one place, so I usually respond to new messages on this page. You might want to watchlist this page for a while so you don't miss a reply.

Hawaii hotspot

I'm going to try and restart this old project, and your comments would be highly appreciated. Thanks =), ResMar 02:09, 20 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I've made some initial comments on the peer review page. --Avenue (talk) 13:41, 20 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I've made some changes (mostly chops) and responded. ResMar 04:57, 21 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Barnstar

The Original Barnstar
This barnstar is awarded to everyone who - whatever their opinion - contributed to the discussion about Wikipedia and SOPA. Thank you for being a part of the discussion. Presented by the Wikimedia Foundation.

I have cleaned up the confusing page of an image you retouched; mostly deleting duplicate and malformed licence templates. If I removed a template which protected your authorship/reserved rights, feel free to revert or tweak my edit. Regards, —Andrewstalk 09:03, 23 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, I've replied on your talk page. --Avenue (talk) 21:24, 23 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
The Alexander Turnbull Library gives the date of 20 August 1909; or is this not the date it was published? —Andrewstalk 21:31, 23 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
In that case, the {{PD-US-not renewed}} is applicable, unless the image's copyright was renewed in the US. I'm not really sure how to find out whether the copyright was renewed or not... —Andrewstalk 23:28, 23 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Community input rquired: lowering delist bar at FPC

You are receiving this because of your current or past association with the Featured Pictures project. Following on from several cases where closers did not observe the prescribed minimum votes required for a delisting, there is now a motion to entirely dismiss the requirement for a minimum. Please participate in the discussion as wide-ranging changes may arise.

Hawaii again

Bump. ResMar 03:48, 30 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't notice your comments, I've responded but you know volcanic processes better then I do—I've not a clue what these missing topics are jabbering about, and if I start writing on them I risk making a fool of myself. Help please :S ResMar 19:52, 11 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Good work

Thanks for your fine improvements at Ain't I a Woman?. Great find, the Corona Brezina source! Binksternet (talk) 22:44, 20 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, glad you like 'em. I was happy to find Brezina's book - it looks very interesting and useful. --Avenue (talk) 23:46, 20 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Avenue. I am currently conducting a study on the dispute resolution processes on the English Wikipedia, in the hope that the results will help improve these processes in the future. Whether you have used dispute resolution a little or a lot, now we need to know about your experience. The survey takes around five minutes, and the information you provide will not be shared with third parties other than to assist in analyzing the results of the survey. No personally identifiable information will be released.

Please click HERE to participate.
Many thanks in advance for your comments and thoughts.

You are receiving this invitation because you have had some activity in dispute resolution over the past year. For more information, please see the associated research page. Steven Zhang DR goes to Wikimania! 00:07, 6 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Cathedral Peak Grandiorite

Would the colours here be better (on a white background)? Grandiose (me, talk, contribs) 15:52, 5 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I think this does do a much better job of indicating a connection between the CPG and the rest of the TIS (partly by the colours, partly by the omission of the black contact border). Maybe it leaves the main element (the CPG) too muted. Would swapping the colours of the TIS and CPG help? --Avenue (talk) 21:19, 5 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
That version is here. Grandiose (me, talk, contribs) 19:07, 6 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Definitely better IMO. I think we could still come up with a palette that better illustrates what is said in the article, but this is certainly an improvement. --Avenue (talk) 20:51, 7 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
The area around Saddlebag lake, I'm struggling from any of the versions to find out how it should look. The really large version crashes my laptop. Does the stream to the north just not connect with the lake? I'll fix that and run a second nomination. Grandiose (me, talk, contribs) 14:16, 13 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
That stream to the north does stop short of Saddlebag Lake. The map shown here (which I linked to in my vote on Wikipedia:Featured picture candidates/Map of Yosemite National Park) gives a reasonable outline of the area's drainage. The divide between Lundy Canyon (to the north) and Saddlebag Lake (south) would run generally from west to east across Lundy Pass, separating the Odell Lake and Hummingbird Lake catchment areas. Further west it would separate the Wasco Lake catchment area from the Conness Lakes/Greenstone Lake catchment. I'm not sure whether it runs north or south of Z Lake (I suspect north), but I don't think that matters for your map. This Google-based map also provides more detail. --Avenue (talk) 15:33, 13 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Commas missing from Template:NZ population data
