The result of the proposal was move per request. No evidence whatever provided but searches indicate he is more commonly known without middle name.---Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 15:46, 26 December 2009 (UTC)
Johannes Leonardus Maas → Johannes Maas — WP:COMMONNAME — Maher-shalal-hashbaz (talk) 14:30, 17 December 2009 (UTC)

the correct page title is Johannes Maas
Google results for:
- "Johannes Maas" -wiki +cyclist - about 99
- "Johannes Maas" -wiki +olympic - about 163
- "Johannes Leonardus Maas" -wiki +cyclist - 7
- "johannes Leonardus maas" -wiki +olympic - 9
Clearly, the middle name is not as common, and thus should not be included in the title. Maher-shalal-hashbaz (talk) 00:49, 8 April 2010 (UTC)
- CLEARLY? The Olympic Committee uses the name Jan Maas, which is his nickname. I am not sure if you read my comments about the move. The only clear reference for Johannes Maas in Google is the WP article. The bulk of the references on Google are about the Johannes Maas who heads an organization in Asia. That article was deleted either by you or someone else without a page on Wikipedia. รัก-ไทย (talk) 04:00, 8 April 2010 (UTC)
You haven't demonstrated a single reliable source that uses his middle name. Here's an example of a reliable source: Sports Illustrated. Maher-shalal-hashbaz (talk) 04:41, 8 April 2010 (UTC)
- In the 1928 report of the Olympics he is clearly identified many times as Jan Maas. The 1924 report calls him Johannes only one time. The editor above did not do his research. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 49.230.103.211 (talk) 16:18, 2 February 2014 (UTC)
- You need to take this a WP:RM due to the comments above. At any rate, the article would be at Jan Maas not "Jan" Maas as per WP:COMMONNAME. Severo (talk) 21:44, 2 February 2014 (UTC)
