Kraainem (French: Crainhem) is a municipality in the province of Flemish Brabant, in Flanders, one of the three regions of Belgium. The municipality only comprises the town of Kraainem proper. On January 1st, 2000 Kraainem had a total population of 12,692 (6,147 males and 6,545 females). The total area is 5.98 km² which gives a population density of 2,122.41 inhabitants per km².

Kraainem is a so-called municipality with linguistic facilities within Flanders. The official language is Dutch, however, in the 60's, special 'linguistic facilities' were given to French-speaking inhabitants. They can request official documents from the local administration in French.
