Sultan Basha al-Atrash, a Druze leader of the Mountain of Druze (aka Jabal ed-Druze), called for a popular revolution against the French occupation of Lebanon and Syria in 1920. The revolution cost the French army many casualties and it did end but with the freedom of the two countries.
