Kannada is the official language of Mangalore, Tulu is a regional language

Kannada is used to read and write Tulu language in Mangalore. Also Konkani and Beary languages use the Kannada language in Mangalore for reading and writing purposes. Although Tulu has its own script, very few people in Mangalore are aware of it, and it is not used by the majority of Tulu speakers. Kannada, being the official language of the state of Karnataka, by default is the official language of Mangalore. Tulu, Konkani and Beary are the regional languages of the city.Simple-man-everyday (talk) 16:11, 16 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Regions of Karnataka

I'd like to know on what basis Mangaluru is put under the region coastal karnataka that leads to the page Kanara. Is there any reference for this? I know the distinction made in media, but not in any official reference. This is for my own research. kilingar (talk) 13:44, 21 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

"Coastal Karnataka", "Kanara" and "Karavali" refer to the same region of Karnataka.
Please refer this Wikipedia link:

'Tulu Nadu' is not an official region of Karnataka. Mangalore is a part of "Coastal Karnataka" region

Tulu Nadu is not an officially recognized region of Karnataka. Tulu Nadu is not classified under the regions of Karnataka. Please do not add "Tulu Nadu" region in the Mangalore article. Mangalore is part of "Coastal Karnataka" region. Simple-man-everyday (talk) 02:36, 26 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Do not add incorrect information regarding the languages, region, economy and images of Mangalore

Dear editors,
Please remember that Mangalore is a Featured Article of an "Encyclopedia". While editing, keep in mind that you're adding or removing contents from an encyclopedic article and not any other magazine, news paper, blog or a travel website.
Some of the common places of adding misleading / incorrect information to the Mangalore article include:
1. Offcial language
2. Region
3. Copyrighted images (Not your own pictures regarding Mangalore)
4. Karnataka's 2nd largest city.
5. Montage image of the article.

Do not include your subjective opinion about the above mentioned contents on this article. Add appropriate citations and references to these statements. Prove them with facts and valid sources. Coming to the Montage image for the article, try to click your own pictures of Mangalore and form a Montage. Do not rely on external sources for images.
Remember when you add misleading information to this article, you put its Featured Article(FA) status at risk. So as an editor, think before you update the contents of this article.

I want to quote: "Just because you don't understand or agree upon something that doesn't mean it's wrong"
If you shall face this please do one of the following
1. Try to go through the citation(if exists)
2. Do some basic research and try to add the missing citation
3. Request for citation instead of removing the content.

Please refrain from removing or modifying info without proper justification.

"Kambala" and "Korikatta" contents should not be added to this article

Kambala and Korikatta are controversial sports. Animal rights activists and many people in Mangalore have requested to ban these sports.
Please do some Research online regarding these sports. Animals are treated badly in these sports.
Adding citations to controversial contents does not justify anything. I request the Wikipedia editors of Mangalore - Please do not promote these sports in this article. Kambala and Korikatta contents should not be added. it gives a negative impression about Mangalore city. Simple-man-everyday (talk) 18:11, 21 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Well if they exist in Mangalore, then they should be added. Whether it gives positive or negative impression or it is supposed to be banned or not, that's none of our business. Xavier449 (talk) 20:52, 21 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Can you please revert your changes on the same. Xavier449 (talk) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 106.216.166.204 (talk) 02:10, 22 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Kambala and Korikatta have violated the Indian Penal Code (IPC). These sports are cruel to animals. Animals are tortured during these sports.
Why are you promoting such contents online ? There are many other sports which can be added other than these 2 sports.
