Sultana Meher(Fatima[1] Hashim Daulah) is a great biographical memoir (Tazkara Nigaar) of the present era.She is a poetess,short story writer,novelist and a journalist,but consciously she has preferred to be called a memoirs writer(Tazkara Nigaar) .And in the field of biographical memoirs (Tazkara Nigaari )her work is of such a standard that she can obviously be rated as an important memoir.[2] [3]

Early life

Sultana Meher was born in Bombay,India on the 6th April,1938.[4] She is the eldest daughter of Muhammad Hashim Daulah and Khadeja Hashim. Her father passed away when she was only 13 years of age. She was forced to stop having education. She was very fond of reading books and started writing stories in newspapers.She was married to Saeed Raza Saeed, famous and prominent poet and journalist.After the birth of first son Sohail Saeed she moved to Pakistan along with her family.

After the birth of two children Sultana Meher decided to complete her education.She started from high school and finished her Masters in Journalism in 1971 from Karachi University. Sultana Meher studied while working as a journalist and looking after her family.Sultana Meher went to USA,1991 to join her sons.There she also continued her Literal activities .Urdu writer society of North America Sultana paid her great tribute for her efforts for Urdu Literature.[5] Sultana Meher met Jawed Akhtar Choudhry and got married in September 2002. Since then she lives in Birmingham, United Kingdom.In Birmingham she continued her literal activities till now.[6]

Employment

Sultana Meher started her first employment with The Daily Hindustan, Bombay,then as an editor of the Ladies section in the newspaper The Daily ANJAAM, Karachi, Pakistan. She joined, The Daily JANG, Karachi and worked there from 1967 to 1979 as a Journalist.Sultana Meher published her own Monthly Magazine ‘’The Roop”, from 1980 to 1991.

Sultana Meher wrote more than 20 books and hundreds of articles in different magazines.[7]
