The Steese Highway is highway in the Alaska Interior that extends northward from Fairbanks to Circle, a town on the Yukon River about 80 km (50 miles) south of the Arctic Circle. The Steese highway is 260 km (162 miles) long. The first 71 km (44 miles) of the highway is paved and the rest is gravel.
