The International Advertising Association (IAA) with world secretariat in NY City was founded on April 8, 1938 by Thomas Ashwell (publisher of "Export Trade & Shipper" magazines) and 12 other managers from the advertising industry in the Harvard Club of New York. Their goal was information exchange about successful practices in international advertising.[1] In 1954 the "Export Advertising Association", as it was called until then, took its present name. [2]
