02:23:13, 9 May 2018 review of submission by SkywardDavid

Hi, earlier today I made a page for singer Shawn Mendes' upcoming tour "Shawn Mendes: The Tour" but it was not accepted because the reviewer said there is already a page for it. I have not been able to find it. When I search "Shawn Mendes The Tour" it redirects me to the page for Shawn Mendes. Then when I scroll down to the "Tours" section and click on it, it redirects me back to the top of the page. Can someone tell me if the page actually exists? SkywardDavid (talk) 02:23, 9 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi SkywardDavid. If you click Shawn Mendes The Tour, you will be redirected to the article about the musician. Under the title, in small print, will be the notation (Redirected from Shawn Mendes The Tour). If you click that link, you'll be taken to the tour page without redirection. Amanda-1995 created it a few days ago. Another editor turned it into a redirect because it's far in advance of the tour dates, and no reliable sources have written more about it than the list of planned dates and locations. Revisit the topic nearer (or, better yet, after) the date, at which point reliable sources may have said more about the tour. --Worldbruce (talk) 13:27, 11 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

02:47:06, 9 May 2018 review of submission by Shesielle

Shesielle (talk) 02:47, 9 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I need help with my submission, I had edited the draft to make the subject neutral. I also used credible sources . Thank you. Shesielle (talk) 02:47, 9 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Shesielle. Examining the cited books and a random selection of the sources in the citation overkill at the end, all but one (ynetnews.com) are passing mentions. If you eliminate the more than 90% of sources that are poor, and use as the draft's foundation at least three sources as in-depth and reliable as "Shuki Zikri shuts down beauty salons", then you might be able to construct an acceptable draft. --Worldbruce (talk) 14:02, 11 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

12:26:04, 9 May 2018 review of submission by Personale

Hi I spent more than an hour in this article and don't know about secondary sources and can anyone help me both with changing too grammar thx, this is a notable game played for years with famous youtubers and etc.

If there are no reliable sources covering that game, you should at least be open to the idea that it's not quite as notable as you think it is. Significant coverage by multiple independent reliable sources is a requirement (WP:GNG/WP:V), not an option. Kleuske (talk) 12:32, 9 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

But there are many source about this game, thats why I asked help maybe I need post help from wikiproject video games, so if anyone can help can be appreciated thanks if not I will edit it. Personale (talk) 08:33, 9 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

16:41:24, 9 May 2018 review of submission by Mapsan

Mapsan (talk) 16:41, 9 May 2018 (UTC) The title of the page is User:Mapsan/sandbox, but it should be Moses Apsan, Attorney at Law.[reply]

How can I correct the title, because of that it's written, does not reflect my true name. Thanks

Deleted for advertising. MatthewVanitas (talk) 00:04, 10 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

14:43:08, 10 May 2018 reviewed of submission As the Pizza Burns by AshleePowers

Hello, you reviewed the following for my entry and marked it for deletion.

"Weakly sourced advert for a book yet to be published. The author's own site and Facebook are neither reliable, nor independent. Author has not declared their clear conflict of interest. Tagging for deletion." "

This submission appears to read more like an advertisement than an entry in an encyclopedia. Encyclopedia articles need to be written from a neutral point of view, and should refer to a range of independent, reliable, published sources, not just to materials produced by the creator of the subject being discussed. This is important so that the article can meet Wikipedia's verifiability policy and the notability of the subject can be established. If you still feel that this subject is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, please rewrite your submission to comply with these policies."

My post was deleted shortly after before I had a chance to adjust and edit it to meet criteria, this was my first article that I had written and am still learning to cite sources appropriately. Additionally, I am not the author of the book. While I am still considered to have a conflict of interest based on my relation to author it would be because I am his editor and project manager, not just his wife.

The purpose of the article was not for advertisement, but for sole for informational purposes of publication. The book is currently set to launch in less than two weeks and is available for preorder, and if the author page and fan pages are the only sources of information the only other citations would be for the Amazon website where it is set to preorder. (which to me seemed more like advertisement than anything I had written.) Please help me better understand what I can do to help this article meet criteria. — Preceding unsigned comment added by AshleePowers (talkcontribs) 14:43, 10 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I reviewed and tagged and can reply to the query shortly. KJP1 (talk) 15:11, 10 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
AshleePowers - OK, responses below:
  • Advertising - I don't know what "for sole for informational purposes of publication" means. To me it was clearly a draft intended, if published, to raise awareness of the forthcoming novel. That's advertising.
  • Sourcing - its sources were the author's site and the author's Facebook. As I indicated in the review, neither is independent, and neither's reliable. They are what the book's author, or his agents say about the book. That's not how we source articles. Sources need to be reliable and independent.
  • Conflict of interest - As the author of the draft - not the book - you have a very, very clear conflict of interest in that you are the book author's editor, project manager and wife. This needs to be declared as a Conflict and our policies on conflict editing followed.
  • Wikipedia:Notability (books) - This gives detailed guidance on the Notability criteria for books, including books yet to be published. If you have a read, you'll see that your husband's book doesn't meet the criteria and therefore isn't eligible for an article.
I hope this information is helpful. KJP1 (talk) 15:36, 10 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

19:53:47, 10 May 2018 review of submission by Jemowkd

Hi, I urgently need to find out why the submission has been rejected. Please could you provide me with specific points as to what I need to change? Thank you sincerely for your help. Jemowkd (talk) 19:53, 10 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Jemowkd - Hi, not sure why this is now urgent as the draft was declined two months ago. The reviewer declined as the sources didn't meet the Notability criteria for companies, Wikipedia:NCORP. If you've addressed this and resubmitted, another reviewer will take a look. KJP1 (talk) 04:57, 11 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Jemowkd. Examining a random selection of cited sources: both business.london references fail the significant coverage test, and rlc.ventures and thestartupnetwork fail the independence test. The Sunday Times piece behind the paywall got my hopes up, but the whole thing is only 275 words, and it's almost entirely Chowdhry in Chowdhry's own words, with no analysis by the reporter, so it too lacks independence. RLC Ventures does not appear to be a suitable subject for a stand alone article. Wikipedia is not for promotion, marketing, or public relations. --Worldbruce (talk) 14:27, 11 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Is unofficial feedback possible?

Don't want to waste anybody's time, but is it possible to get unofficial feedback from one or more Afc editors on a draft that various editors are contributing to? Don't really need or want to go through Afc formally, because we've got tons of experience among us, and probably everybody is autopatrolled, but additional eyeballs/opinions about if and where to improve the draft before moving to article space would be welcome. If that's not something you do, np; but if so, I'll link the draft if you ping me. Basically the question would be, Is this draft ready for prime-time, and if not, what areas do you see as needing improvement? Thanks, Mathglot (talk) 02:56, 11 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Mathglot: it'd be easier to tell if you just link us the article here so all of us can see it, and see if it's in our area of expertise/interest. MatthewVanitas (talk) 08:43, 11 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Matthew, Thanks for your reply. I was poking around your project, and I can see you have a huge backlog, so don't want to burden you too much with this. OTOH, I'll link your WP:AFCR section on our Talk page, and we'll go through the list as much as we can. When we're done with that, I'll post a link here and if you or anybody wants to have a quick look, that'd be fine, otherwise we'll be good to go. Thanks again, Mathglot (talk) 22:27, 11 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

04:35:48, 11 May 2018 review of submission by Ajs singh

Why my article is declined and not accepted? Ajs singh (talk) 04:35, 11 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Ajs singh - I declined the draft as it has not got any sources. Reliable sources are essential on Wikipedia as they show Notability and allow readers to Verify the content. Without sources, you can't really have an article. KJP1 (talk) 04:52, 11 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
KJP1 First-timer lurking here, but if your assessment instructions don't already say to check for duplicate articles, maybe you could change them so that they do. This goes double for article titles involving transliteration. There is already a complete article about this topic, it is Kulcha. This draft should be deleted. Cordially, Mathglot (talk) 22:33, 11 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Mathglot - a helpful reminder. Checking for duplicates/copyvio are down as checks but it's easy to forget them. All the best. KJP1 (talk) 05:10, 12 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

07:55:22, 11 May 2018 review of submission by Adidoodle

Would like to understand why the two reference links provided in the article are not notable enough. According to Wikipedia: Notability(organizations and companies), an article is not notable if it's a single sentence mention but the reference links provided are dedicated articles. Do throw light on the same. Adidoodle (talk) 07:55, 11 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Adidoodle - it’s the quality of the sourcing as much as the quantity. Both are interviews, probably PR-driven. The second is the better of the two, but it’s a blog. Neither amounts to significant coverage in reliable sources. Also, do you have a conflict of interest and, if so, have you declared it? KJP1 (talk) 08:38, 11 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

11:03:42, 11 May 2018 review of submission by Personale

14:47:30, 11 May 2018 review of submission by Tembleking

Would like to understand why the submission's references do not adequately show the subject's notability. All links provided seems to be reliable and are independent secondary sources and I believe the subject is worth a page in Wikipedia given it's repo commits and community. If you could ellaborate a little bit more and explain me how to improve this page, I will be grateful. Tembleking (talk) 14:47, 11 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Tembleking: Your sources are primarily blogs and GitHub. Independent, secondary sources that focus on the subject (not just a passing mention) are required. JTP (talkcontribs) 15:20, 11 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

So... blogs and Github pages are not valid references? Are this links valid sources? Tecmint Techcrunch Crunchbase Cloud.gov — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tembleking (talkcontribs) 17:00, 11 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Nope, blogs (such as Tecmint) are not reliable sources; and the cloud.gov link, for example, just shows that they use sysdig, which does not make it notable. We need substantial coverage, not namechecks. --Orange Mike | Talk 23:28, 11 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, I don't know how to check the website date when it was created so I can put the exact date that was created for the source I get for my references.

Your sources are not at all what we need. I would be shocked if this page passed WP:AfD Legacypac (talk) 15:53, 12 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

20:07:16, 12 May 2018 review of submission by ZGmovies

The page I crated with the username ZGmovies is for the producer Mubina Rattonsey, this is the name I'd like the page/article to be called and to appear as on Wikipedia. ZGmovies (talk) 20:07, 12 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

That would be the title of the page if it were accepted. However, why did you make an exact copy of Draft:Mubina Rattonsey, except for removing the references? Robert McClenon (talk) 22:45, 12 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I have the source from Hainesport School to verify there are five more neighborhoods that are not listed currently and one of the current neighborhoods doesn't exits. In the edit section do I copy and past the original and then make my corrections ? There is a sequence that must be used that I am missing . I did go to a local University but their people were having trouble with getting this resolved for me.I also went to the Hainesport township Administrator but she is new and when I finish I can go back to her and show her the corrections. Another reason I am trying to correct the current geography paragraph is the Township is using this information which is inaccurate. If there is a step by step method to help me change this paragraph that would be great.≈ Purc311 (talk) 21:24, 12 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Purc311 - Hi, this is the Helpdesk for asking about draft articles that you want to create. I think your query is about an existing article, Hainesport Township, New Jersey. The best place to discuss changes/corrections to that article is on that article's talkpage, here, Talk:Hainesport Township, New Jersey. All the best. KJP1 (talk) 14:59, 13 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

SwagLevelHigh - Hi. The draft was declined because the only sources you had were from/by the college itself. These aren't independent. Also, one whole section was copied from one of the two sources. You need "significant coverage from reliable, independent sources" to show that the college is Notable and should therefore have an article. KJP1 (talk) 05:47, 14 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Caxaza - From your draft, which was almost blank beyond the title, it's not clear what content you think an article on 1931 in Boston should contain. You'll need to put in more detail, with sources, to show why a page on that city in that particular year might be suitable as an article. KJP1 (talk) 05:40, 14 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I have one article in the sandbox that belongs to the company named TIL Limited. This organisation is a renowned organisation in India. I have provided some reference links. I need some from this group let me know what reference could be used as notable reference for this kind of organisation. It will be a great help for me. Rayan.smith008 (talk) 06:19, 14 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Rayan.smith008 - There are a number of issues with the draft:
  • Citing sources - You've put all your references in the draft's infobox. That's not where they go. Please have a look at this, Help:Referencing for beginners, and this, Wikipedia:Citing sources, which tell you how to cite sources.
  • Significant coverage - your references are not very strong, being mostly basic company listings from Bloomberg, Reuters etc. I think you'll need better sources that give "significant coverage" if you want the draft accepted.
  • Conflict of interest - I see this is the only page you've worked on. Do you have a connection to the company? If you do, you need to declare a conflict and follow our guidance on Conflict editing here, Wikipedia:Conflict of interest.
Hope this helps. KJP1 (talk) 06:42, 14 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Dear David There was a proposal for deletion can you suggest me what is wrong with the article and i have given proper citations Karthik86098 (talk) 06:24, 14 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Karthik86098 - The reviewer highlighted issues with the references, and these need to be addressed. Basically, you need stronger sources. But there is also a second, big, problem. Wikipedia articles take a Neutral viewpoint. Your draft doesn't. It is very promotional and is written from a totally supportive viewpoint. Unless this is changed, the draft won't be accepted. Hope this helps. KJP1 (talk) 06:52, 14 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I am writing this article on behalf of TIL Limited, but my content is getting rejected because of TIL Limited is not being a notable organisation. I need some reference from your end which you reckon as a notable organisation as TIL limited was established in the year 1944 and into this business for a significant time span. I am looking for a convincing reply that I can show to TIL management for not being selected as a notable organisation.

Hi! Could I have some assistance regarding sources? In particular criteria sources need to fulfill in order to establish a person's notability? I'm having a hard time assimilating all the different Wikipedia guides. Thank you!

JaneStrauss (talk) 20:33, 14 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

JaneStrauss, you need multiple independent published reliable sou7rces that discuss the topic is some detail. What does that mean?
  • First of all the sources need to be independent. Not press releases, not interviews with Beck or any of his associates, and not "news" stories that seem to be largely based on press releases and interviews, with little or no independent reporting.
  • The sources need to be reliable. Not blogs, not fan sites, not personal web sites, not directories or top-ten lists, not social media, and not an online forum or wiki. Sources that have a reputation for fact checking and editorial supervision, so that there is more than one person who says that the story is worth publishing. Major newspapers and magazines are usually good, including their online versions.
  • Detail: Each source must devote significant space to discussing Beck, not just mention him or his company. Three or four paragraphs at least in each such source. There should be at least three or four such sources.
  • Once you have your major sources chosen, write the draft based on what the sources say, but never copying or closely paraphrasing any of them.
  • Additional, non-major, sources can be adde4d that don't meet the above conditions, but that are reliable and that do support specific facts that belong in the draft article.
  • Any opinions or value judgements must be attributed to a specific named person or organization, and must be cit4ed directly. So must any quotations. This includes adjectives such as "renowned" or "expert".
You need to decide if the article is to be about Beck, or about his company. At present it says it is about Beck, but a lot of it is about the company. If it is to be an article about Beck, focus on what he did and experienced.
I* hope that is helpful. DES (talk)DESiegel Contribs 23:41, 14 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I understand for verification purposes that you need to scrutinize every draft for fraudulent claims. But Jamie Tate is indeed a Grammy recipient . After doing a bit of research, I am finding out that many engineers , mixers , programmers ( and even producers ) who have been officially presented with a Grammy from the academy, do not appear officially on the Grammys site. Especially when going back 15-20 years and further.

I have reached out to a contact at the Academy to see how/if they can help. If we we can get a staff member to certify his Grammy through email, phone or otherwise, how would we get this to Wiki? Also, here is his certification that he received in 1998:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/mmhbdx83h4d6gke/20180514_145432.jpg?dl=0

I can get a high def pic of it if needed.

If you can please help us clear up this matter, would be much appreciated and very helpful.

I am sorry,IP Editor, but Wikipedia articles must be based on published sources. An email from the academy to Wikipedia does not count as "publication". Nor does posting a scan of a document to Dropbox. Now if there was some news coverage that mentioned his award, that would be a published source. Such a source need not be online. It could be cited by giving the title of the article, the name of the newspaper or other publication, the date, the page number, and the byline if stated. I received this message regarding the submission of my page above - HARJGTHEONE and the messages says I should reenter my page in sandbox to have it really submitted. Is this really necessary as you have my request to submit it. Please note I will be doing minor edits over the coming weeks as I add information, as I am told it takes 2 months for wiki to review.. Do you just I do the minor reedits?

MESSSAGE received: G'day, if you truely were wanting to submit this page via WP:AFC, probably create it in your sandbox, and check out the AfC help desk or the WP:TEAHOUSE for help on creating your first article — IVORK Discuss 23:32, 13 May 2018 (UTC)

Hello, HARJGTHEONE. There are several problems here.
  • First, your user talk page, User talk:HARJGTHEONE is for other users to leave messages fo you, and for you to respond. It is not the place for you to create inital versions of articles or other pages.
  • Secondly, Wikipedia is for factual articles supported by citations to reliable sources, not for fantasies or myths or whatever the texts you have written are supposed to be.
  • Articles can be drafted in your sandbox or in another user sub-page, provided that they are reasonable attempts to create valid articles and so to improve the encyclopedia.
Do you have a subject that you want to write an actual article about? DES (talk)DESiegel Contribs 18:35, 15 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

00:37:53, 16 May 2018 review of submission by Mike Kitchen

Hi! I just resubmitted a short article about Student Loan Hero. The problem previously was that I didn't have enough major citations to prove the notability -- I have added some additional citations of reviews of Student Loan Hero, and (maybe more importantly?) I've added citations of coverage of Student Loan Hero studies by CNBC, USA Today, and the Motley Fool. I was hoping that would suffice as significant coverage, and since my citations cover four years, that it would also satisfy the "coverage over time" requirement. But that said, I wanted to proactively ask for help in case I'm totally missing the point here. I'd greatly appreciate any guidance in terms of adding further material -- there are literally hundred of places on the web where Student Loan Hero and/or its research is cited or covered, but most of them are small blogs, so I stuck to the relatively well-known sources. Also, I left out media coverage of Student Loan Hero's founder, since that didn't seem to fit with the Wikipedia guidelines on notability, but I'd be happy to add coverage of him (since the reports always cover him in the context of his founder of Student Loan Hero). Thanks for any help on this!

I'm new to Wikipedia. I started the page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Andreoni and it was assessed as Start-Class. What action should I take next to make sure the article is improved, and kept on Wikipedia? Thanks.

Laura.k.gee (talk) 13:30, 16 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Laura.k.gee. Start-class is described at WP:Start-Class as The article has a usable amount of good content but is weak in many areas. Quality of the prose may be distinctly unencyclopedic, and MoS compliance non-existent. The article should satisfy fundamental content policies, such as BLP. Frequently, the referencing is inadequate, although enough sources are usually provided to establish verifiability. No Start-Class article should be in any danger of being speedily deleted. In my eyes, though, your article is completely sufficient and is in no danger of deletion. JTP (talkcontribs) 15:02, 16 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

My article is on an author who has published two books , both of which are on videos, podcasts, Amazon, Goodreads, Barnes and noble an others. But I do not know what you mean by references Where do I get references besides podcast, and book sellers? Jrgregg (talk) 21:01, 16 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Jrgregg. You need to find people other than John Randall Gregg who has written about the Gregg. Those are what we call Independant sources. They must also be reliable. These sources should not be associates of Gregg, nor people trying to sell copies of his books. They should not be blogs or fan sites. Reviews of Gregg's work in mainstream publications are likely to be helpful, as are newspaper or magazine articles about him, if they are not primarily local in scope. Books in which he is discussed would also be helpful. Directory entries are not helpful. Neither are very brief mentions of Gregg. Neither is purely local coverage. Each source should have significant discussion of Gregg, say 3-4 paragraphs or more. Sources need not be online, although it is easier to asses them if they are. DES (talk)DESiegel Contribs 23:40, 16 May 2018 (UTC) If such sources cannot be found and cited, ther will not be an article. DES (talk)DESiegel Contribs 23:46, 16 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
See Referencing for Beginners for information on how to cite sources and use them as references, Jrgregg. Also if you are John Randall Gregg yourself, writing an autobiography is strongly discouraged. In any case, if you are related to or connected with Gregg, you have a conflict of interest, and should declare it as described at WP:COI. You can use {{connected contributor}} for this purpose. 23:24:30, 16 May 2018 review of submission by JudeJBMalcolm

Hi! Writing to get feedback on my page created for Upfront Ventures, which was declined. Reasons listed for decline are that the tone isn't neutral and that there are a lack of independent, reliable, published sources. The tone appears neutral to me, and there are 47 citations, almost all from independent sources like NYTimes, TechCrunch, Los Angeles Times, and so on. I've also modeled the page itself and citations included after other pages about VC firms (see: Benchmark (venture capital) and Greycroft).

If I delete the following two passages, would that help? - "...and was deemed "the largest and most active investor" in the Los Angeles area by CB Insights." - "The firm is active in calling for diversity and gender equality in venture capital. It supports All Raise, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting diverse funders and founders in the tech industry; Upfront partner Kara Nortman is an inaugural member. JudeJBMalcolm (talk) 23:24, 16 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, JudeJBMalcolm. Yes removing those would help. I would also remove the whole "Key people" section. And the whole draft could stand some re-writing, trying to avoid marketing-speak throughout. Try to be neutral and factual. You have many cited sources, over 45 of them, which makes it hard to determine which ones are supposed to establish the notability of the firm. See our guideline on the notability of businesses. Try to remove cited sources that only mention Upfront in passing, or very briefly, such as http://campfire-capital.com/retail-ipo-and-acquisitions/secondhand-clothing-site-thredup-raises-81-million-at-valuation-around-500-million/ and similar sources, and focus on sources that actually write about the firm. DES (talk)DESiegel Contribs 02:38, 17 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Also, JudeJBMalcolm, you wrote my page created for Upfront Ventures. Just what is your relationship with Upfront? If they have hired you or an agency you work for, or you are an employee or intern of theirs, you must declare that in accordance with our policy on paid editing before making any more edits about the firm. If not, but you have any sort of close relationship with Upfront, you have a conflict of interest and should declare that. DES (talk)DESiegel Contribs 02:38, 17 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Suri2550 (talk) 07:11, 17 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Suri2550 - Assuming you're querying why your article was Declined, it's because it hasn't got any sources at all. Reliable, independent sources are essential for Wikipedia, as they show Notability and let readers Verify the content. Without them, your draft won't be approved. Hope this helps. Mornetmarx - Hi, primary schools aren't generally Notable such that they warrant an article on here. See Wikipedia:SCHOOLOUTCOMES. There's nothing in your sourcing that suggests this primary school should be an exception to that general rule. KJP1 (talk) 07:28, 17 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
