Team EnVyUs, known as Team Envy (abbrev. nV), and by their nickname "The Boys in Blue", is an esports organization based in the United States and France. It was founded in 2007 as a competitive Call of Duty team. It is currently owned and managed by Mike "Hastr0" Rufail. Team EnVyUs currently have rosters competing in Call of Duty, Overwatch, Halo, Paladins, PUBG, Rocket League, Street Fighter, and FIFA.

Call of Duty

EnVyUs won the MLG Pro League Season 3 in 2014.[4] On July 17, 2016 EnVyUs won the Call of Duty World League Stage 2 Championship, defeated Dream Team in the finals 4-1.[5] Team EnVyUs went on to win the 2016 CoD World Championship, taking down Splyce 3-1 in the grand final on September 4, 2016. The following year, EnVyUs finished runners up, losing to OpTic Gaming in the final, but became the only team to have reached 4 out of 5 CoD World Championship finals, After being led by prodigyX in one of the online finals. [6]

Gears of War

The Team Envy Gears of War (GoW) division was founded on January 4, 2012, when the organization formed the professional GoW team "EnVyUs MbN".[7] The team would compete in Gears of War 3, where they would place 4th in the LAN tournament Hypefestation 2.[8][9]

On October 2015, Envy announced they would be re-entering the GoW competitive scene for Gears of War: Ultimate Edition and were revealed as one of eight teams in ESL's GoW Pro League.[10][11] In Season 1 of the league, Envy finished runners-up to Denial Esports.[12] In Season 2, they became champions after defeating Denial in a rematch of the finals following a 12–2 regular season record. The tournament win marked their first ever Gears of War title.[13] In July 2016, without dropping a single map, Envy would win their second title at the Gears eSports European Open in London.[14]

Heading into Gears of War 4, Team Envy would compete in the Coalition's $1 million Gears Pro Circuit.[15] Their campaign would include multiple second-place finishes, as well as the team's third championship in January 2017, when the team dethroned OpTic Gaming at the Mexico City Open, the first ever GoW event in Latin America.[16][17]

On June 13, 2017, shortly after the end of the Gears Pro Circuit, Team Envy announced they had departed from the Gears of War esports scene following the transfer of their roster to Echo Fox.[18]

Counter-Strike

EnVyUs officially entered the Counter-Strike scene on February 2, 2015 after acquiring the French squad of Team LDLC.[19]

EnVyUs finished 3rd-4th at ESL One Katowice 2015 after losing to Ninjas in Pyjamas 0-2 in the semifinals.[20]

On July 21, 2015 EnVyUs sent Richard "shox" Papillon and Edouard "SmithZz" Dubourdeaux to Titan, while EnVyUs received former Titan players Kenny "kennyS" Schrub and Dan "apEX" Madesclaire.[21][22]

EnVyUs finished 2nd at ESL One Cologne 2015 after losing to Fnatic 0-2 in the finals[23] and won DreamHack Open Cluj-Napoca 2015 after a 2-0 victory over Natus Vincere.[24][25]

Team EnVyUs decided to withdraw from the Counter-Strike tournament at Intel Extreme Masters Season X - San Jose because of flight delays resulting from security concerns following the November 2015 Paris attacks.[26][27]

After placing 11-12th at IEM Katowice 2016,[28] EnVyUs announced Timothée "DEVIL" Démolon from Team LDLC: White, would be replacing Fabien "kioShiMa" Fiey, due to communication problems.[29]

In early 2017 Apex KennyS and NBK[30] were replaced by G2 players ScreaM RPK And teamLDLC player XMS

In early 2018 XMS and SIXER were replaced by KioShiMa[31] and hAdji

On June 20, 2018, CEO Mike Rufail announced in a video that the entire Counter-Strike: Global Offensive roster was completely dropped, releasing the players and allowing them to gain contracts with other organizations. However, Rufail stated that he hopes to find a roster that was easily accessible from the organization's headquarters (Dallas, TX)[32]

On July 21st 2018, EnVyUs released both their Main and Academy rosters for CS:GO. In a press release, EnVyUs revealed that they are ready to shift their focus, with the organisation now looking to build "a competitive Counter-Strike presence for Team Envy in North America."[33]

SMITE

The Team Envy SMITE division was founded on October 5, 2015, when the organization acquired the North American team AFK Gaming.[34] The team's only championship would come in January 2016, when they won the SMITE World Championship 2016 - Xbox One Invitational.[35] In May 2016, during a match against SoaR, Envy violated the SMITE Pro League code of conduct after they forfeited their second game less than two minutes in; the pro-level rage-quit is branded "the worst match in SPL history" and resulted in Hi-Rez sanctioning each participating Envy player with a $500 fine.[36]

On November 30, 2016, Team Envy announced they had departed from the SMITE esports scene following the release of their roster.[37]

Halo

Halo 5

Team EnVyUs' first venture into Halo was officially announced on November 10, 2015. The organization announced the signing of Richie "Heinz" Heinz, Justin "iGotUrPistola" Deese, Bradley "APG" Laws along with the acquisition of Austin "Mikwen" McCleary in a player transaction with Team Liquid. On December 15, EnVy Halo won the first Astro Gaming Spartans $1,000 4v4 online tournament, defeating Winterfox in the finals. On January 13, APG and Heinz left Team EnVyUs to join Team Liquid. They were quickly replaced by Scott "Cloud" Holste and Jacob "Hysteria" Reiser. During the next week, a team change frenzy was sparked by Lethul leaving Evil Geniuses. This led to Mikwen and Pistola recruiting new free agent Tom "OGRE2" Ryan, and quickly rounding out the roster with Jacob "Arkanum" Santos. Cloud and Hysteria would go on to form Triggers Pound. The team would eventually qualify for the HWC NA Regional Finals 2016 as the #6 seed. At the tournament, they would go 0-2 in the group stage, first being defeated by Evil Geniuses and then being upset by Denial eSports. As a result, they would not qualify for Halo World Championship 2016.

Pro League

On August 25, 2016 Team EnVyUs Announced the Addition of Snip3down and Huke to the Roster in Hopes of making a push towards claiming the title of "Best Halo Team" from OpTic Gaming.

Overwatch

Taimou, Chipshajen, Effect, Harryhook, Cocco, Mickie. Recently Team EnVyUs have won Apex season 1 and MLG Vegas 2016. In the last season of Apex (season 3) EnVyUs came fourth being knocked out by KongDoo Panthera in the semi finals and Afreecas Freecs Blue in the 3rd place decider.

On October 5, 2017, it was officially announced the Team EnVyUs Overwatch team would be rebranded as the Dallas Fuel for the Overwatch League.[38] On the weekend the Overwatch Contenders Season 1 NA Playoffs took place, marking their last tournament under the Team EnVyUs banner, where they took first place after beating FNRGFE 3-0 in the semi-finals and FaZe Clan 4-0 in the finals. Their final tournament also marked the LAN debut appearance of newly recruited Brandon "Seagull" Larned.

League of Legends

Entering the North American League of Legends Championship Series (NA LCS)

On May 18, after passing Riot's vetting process, Team EnVyUs officially purchased Renegades’ NA LCS spot in a deal reportedly valued in excess of $1 million.[39][40] They officially joined the league under the name of Team Envy. Retaining the core of Renegades, Team Envy's initial roster consisted of top laner Shin "Seraph" Woo-Yeong, mid laner Noh "Ninja" Geon-woo, and support Nickolas "Hakuho" Surgent.[39] On May 23, the arrivals of jungler Kim Procxin Se-young from Team Impulse, as well as free agent ADCs Zachary "Nien" Malhas and Benjamin "LOD" DeMunck were announced.[41] The roster was finalised with the addition of substitute mid laner Aleksei Alex Ich Ichetovkin in late May.[42] The team was originally meant to be head coached by former Renegades' David "Hermes" Tu, however prior to the start of the summer split he stepped down and was replaced by Team Envy's strategic coach Lee "Miracle" Hyeon-beom.[43][44]

Rocket League
