The ABC Guide was a regular television broadcast provided by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation to digital television viewers in Australia. It was shown during the off-air periods for both ABC HD and ABC Comedy on their respective channels. It was launched on 30 May 2006 and was initially available in Sydney, with all other digital ABC broadcast regions launching the guide at a later date.

The ABC Guide was removed from channel 20 on 1 January 2008 when ABC HD relaunched as a full-time simulcast of ABC TV. The ABC Guide was later closed on 8 February 2008 when ABC Comedy was moved from channel 21 to channel 22 and began 24-hour broadcasting.

Eigenschaften

The ABC Guide broadcast on ABC Comedy in 2007

The ABC Guide featured a primetime television guide for the programming of both ABC TV and ABC Comedy. The channel provided DiG Radio in the form of an accompanied audio stream. The datacast service also provides realtime weather reports for major centres in Australia.

DiG Radio

A live audio stream of DiG Radio, an Australian Broadcasting Corporation digital radio service, was available via the ABC Guide. This was accompanied by a realtime informational slide that stated the current and upcoming soundtrack.

Werbung

The ABC Guide advertised new and popular television programs from both ABC TV and ABC Comedy via an informational slide. The informational slide contained program information and broadcast times.

Identity

The ABC Guides' onair look remained constant from May 2006 when the channel launched until its close. It featured six informational slides. The design and colour scheme was based on ABC Online's branding of the time, with the use of light blue, orange, and white. Each slide also used elements from each respective channel's on-air branding, which include ABC TV, ABC Comedy and DiG Radio.
