Template:Vital article

Remove War of 1812 details; irrelevant to John Jay Biography

The current last paragraph under Jay Treaty, discussing the War of 1812, does not belong in this article. This article is about John Jay, who was retired and had no role in the War of 1812. That the Jay Treaty of 1795 did not resolve the impressment issue is clearly stated in the preceding paragraph. The desire of War Hawks to acquire land in Canada 17 years later is irrelevant to the Jay Treaty, which did not concern itself with land boundaries. I have edited the previous paragraph to indicate that the impressment issue would later be one cause of the War of 1812 and removed this paragraph.Contributor tom (talk) 22:18, 26 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Where is Information about his Children?

How come there is no real information about his children? Did all of them make it to adulthood? Did any die in childbirth? There is virtually nothing about his family at all, other than a list of children (which may be incomplete) in the infobox at the side of the article. Does anyone have more information? Once again, check the text on the Federalist Papers line (and citiation 63)- this is the lyric from Hamilton the musical. At least cite it properly. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 208.119.81.90 (talk) 17:27, 10 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Chief Justice

I removed a parenthetical comment under Jay's time as Chief Justice. The comment asserted that the Judiciary Act of 1789 created the office of Chief Justice. That is incorrect, the Constitution presupposes a chief justice in Article I, Section 3 when it talks about how the chief justice will preside over the impeachment trials of the president. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 129.62.161.13 (talk) 17:05, 20 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
