With the Decree of President [[Nursultan Nazarbayev|Nursaltan Nazarbayev]], the Diplomatic Mission converted to the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan on January 1, 2007. Since April 2013, H.E. Mr Kalybek Koblandin has been the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Mongolia. == Cultural and Humanitarian Cooperation ==

In 2001, the East Kazakhstan State University (EKSU) has opened its branch in the Ölgii city (capital of the [[Bayan-Ölgii Province|Bayan-Ölgii province]], Mongolia). 25 grants were awarded annually to citizens of Mongolia.
