Eden Alene (Hebrew: עדן אלנה; born May 7, 2000), also known mononymously as Eden, is an Israeli singer. She will represent Israel in the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 held in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.[1]
Early life
Alene was born in the Jerusalem neighborhood of Katamon to Ethiopian-Jewish parents who immigrated separately to Israel during the Aliyah from Ethiopia.[2] When she was two years old her parents divorced. Since then, she hasn't been in contact with her father.[3]
Career
In October 2017, she participated in the third season of Israeli reality show The X Factor Israel. At the first audition, she sang "Stone Cold" by Demi Lovato. In January 2018 she won the season finale.[4]
In April 2018, she performed a song by Arkadi Duchin at the torch-lighting ceremony that opened the celebrations of the 70th Anniversary of the Establishment of the State of Israel.[5]
In December 2018, she released her debut single, "Better".[6]
In February 2019, ahead of the Eurovision Song Contest in Israel, she released a cover for the song "Save Your Kisses for Me" by Brotherhood of Man, which won in the Eurovision Song Contest 1976.[7]
In March 2019, she released her second single, "When It Comes to You", which produced by American producer Julian Bunetta.[8] The same year, she took part in an Israeli production of Little Shop of Horrors.
In 2019, she participated in the seventh season of Israeli reality show Rising Star, won the first place and was chosen to represent Israel in the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 held in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.[1]
Personal life
She went to the prestigious Hebrew University Secondary School and in 2018, she started her IDF mandatory service in a military band.
