Under Permanent Settlement, Lord Cornwallis made it compulsory for the landlords to pay the certain amount of revenue ( in bengal, bihar and orissa it was amounted to Rs 2,68,00,000 per year ) until a fix date otherwise their zamindari shall be forfeited and auctioned to other competent Zamindar. Before sunset of that fix date he had to pay the due and after sunset he will be cordoned off from his Zamindari thus giving it the name of Sunset Law

Current requests for increase in protection level

Place requests for new or upgrading pending changes, semi-protection, full protection, move protection, create protection, template editor protection, or upload protection at the BOTTOM of this section. Check the archive of fulfilled and denied requests or, failing that, the page history if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Semi-protection: IP addresses have continuously been messing up this page with incorrect information. — Preceding unsigned comment added by ThisWasOssain (talkcontribs) 23:22, 31 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 08:22, 2 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary edit-confirmed-protection:Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – Autoconfirmed users continuously removing content that they do not agree with. SerChevalerie (talk) 08:25, 1 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

+1. The article is semi:d, but lately this is not enough. Recommending whatever the next level is. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 10:13, 1 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Adding that this article is now written about on OpIndia. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 10:41, 1 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, that's definitely the source of the activity surge. — Newslinger talk 10:51, 1 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Extended confirmed protected for a period of 3 months, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 06:32, 2 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary extended confirmed protection: Persistent vandalism – The state has changed its capital recently, lot of editors (both IP and auto-confirmed) are eager to change the infobox according to their will without engaging in any meaningful discussion. Ab207 (talk) 16:36, 1 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment as far as it know, there was a content dispute for that page because you are extended confirmed and also involved for reverting edits. The only protection to guarantee it is full protection. 36.76.227.254 (talk) 00:11, 2 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Extended confirmed protected for a period of one week, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. @IP: Please use article talk. Johnuniq (talk) 10:01, 2 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite pending changes: Persistent vandalism. -- puddleglum2.0 19:22, 1 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Declined Maybe back in June, especially considering it was right after the prior protection ended, but there's what? Two clear cut cases in the past three weeks? Don't think any is needed ~ Amory (utc) 09:50, 2 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection: Disruption by new editor that doesn't understand that Nigel Dodds hasn't yet become a member of the House of Lords. Explained at Talk:Nigel Dodds#Lords and User talk:Davidirvine894#August 2020 yet they still keep edit warring to include it. FDW777 (talk) 22:12, 1 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Declined @FDW777: I think it is only one user and I posted a warning at their talk. Please contact me if they repeat (a ping will do). Johnuniq (talk) 10:13, 2 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: BLP policy violations – Repeated addition of unsourced BLP. Darren-M talk 22:34, 1 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Any views on this? The most recent IP was trying to remove a mention of bankruptcy with a primary source as the ref. Adding that back (with only a primary source) is dubious. A new user was trying to add negative mention of someone else. Has this been at WP:BLPN (or WP:RSN for the ref)? Johnuniq (talk) 10:18, 2 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Permanent template protection: Used on over 320 pages, each of which is wholly dependent on this template. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 23:08, 1 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Not done Eh, 320 isn't that much. You just made these, so there's obviously no history of disruption, but I don't think there's a major need for pre-emptive protection. MusikBot II will snag it if it pops over 500. ~ Amory (utc) 09:44, 2 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary full protection: Content dispute/edit warring – Editors involved in edit warring even conversation is carried out in talk page. Either temporarily full protection or protect involved editors from editing the page. Thank you. Cassiopeia(talk) 00:11, 2 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. Cassiopeia(talk) 00:11, 2 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary full protection: Persistent edit warring, content dispute, and vandalism – At least extend confirmed editors were involves for editing capital and reverting it. 182.1.56.56 (talk) 00:15, 2 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Declined I handled this (with WP:ECP) above. Johnuniq (talk) 10:20, 2 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. Cassiopeia(talk) 01:18, 2 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: IP keeps changing nickname. I suspect that there is a source but he won't discuss. Hoping a short semi will bring him to the table. Guy Macon (talk) 01:23, 2 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection: IP obsessively reverting other editors and removing cite needed tags. PAustin4thApril1980 (talk) 02:06, 2 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Continuous vandalism/disruptive editing and POVPUSH by IPs and new accounts, started as soon as the previous ECP expired. Asking for a long term semi this time as this is not likely to subside anytime soon given the history of the article. Gotitbro (talk) 03:15, 2 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary extended confirmed protection: Persistent vandalism – an anonymous IP address, who has now created an account, continues to add unsourced information to the article (see Exhibit A, Exhibit B, Exhibit C, Exhibit D), despite being reverted by multiple editors (Exhibit E, Exhibit F, Exhibit G). AnupamTalk 04:16, 2 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite extended confirmed protection: BLP policy violations. Flix11 (talk) 04:50, 2 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Not done Only one problem edit this week, and very few edits in the last few years. CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n! 07:30, 2 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – May subject to edit warring and happened to me. ThesenatorO5-2argue with me 05:30, 2 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Not done Incomprehensible request, and hasn't been edited in over a week. CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n! 07:28, 2 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection: Persistent sockpuppetry – LTA target (Wacky Wars/MRY). JavaHurricane 08:14, 2 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection: Persistent sockpuppetry – LTA target (Wacky Wars/MRY). JavaHurricane 08:18, 2 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite semi-protection: No need for other people to edit this page. Fizz fam (talk) 08:33, 2 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Declined Not seeing a need to preemptively protect this. IPs and unconfirmed users are prevented from doing so, but there generally needs to be a demonstrated history of vandalism. You can see more at WP:UPROT. ~ Amory (utc) 09:57, 2 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – continued disruptive edits. 4TheWynne (talk contribs) 10:14, 2 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent addition of unsourced or poorly sourced content – IPs and new users are constantly changing the sales figures of One Piece and Dragon Ball. Mazewaxie (talkcontribs) 10:20, 2 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. Flix11 (talk) 10:21, 2 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Pending Changes: Vandalism by unknown IP's and disruptive editing as well. I request to be added a pending changes protection so for someone to review the changes before they should be published live. Or to be exact: Pp-pc1. Ohrid is also one of the largest cities in North Macedonia and Lake Ohrid is the biggest lake in North Macedonia. Lake Ohrid is also one of the oldest and deepest lakes in Europe, so I think Ohrid deserves a protection. Also Lake Ohrid deserves as well. Thank you. Andrew012p (talk) 11:31, 2 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing and vandalism by many IPs at this page by removing information.WezSchultz (talk) 13:28, 2 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Not done No IP edits in the last week. Disruptive editors seem to have already been blocked. CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n! 07:25, 2 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – unexplained/unsourced changes at least one breaking a link to its article. Doug Weller talk 12:17, 2 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent addition of unsourced or poorly sourced content – An anonymous editor has persistently added massive amounts (30kb) of unsourced OR, cruft etc to this article on numerous occasions since at least January, despite lengthy discussions on the talk page, and despite an ANI discussion, and in the face of WP:OWN and WP:ONUS. ——Serial 12:31, 2 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for reduction in protection level

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin at their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

  • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page" which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
  • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
  • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
  • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Protecting admin User:A. B. is inactive. The admin bit was removed due to inactivity in 2014. The category pages were protected immediately after creation, with no provided reason. See also, removal of protection for related categories: Special:Diff/943029722, Special:Diff/943029741, Special:Diff/943029653. —andrybak (talk) 12:15, 1 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Note: Category:User talk pages with Uw-advert1 notices is not protected (protection was lifted in February). Malcolmxl5 (talk) 17:27, 1 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Many have been protected (sysop only) with the rationale of "high risk category", which does seem overstated to me. --Malcolmxl5 (talk) 17:31, 1 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Malcolmxl5, you are right. I haven't checked the logs properly and assumed that every category hasn't had a reason specified, like the parent category. Indeed, all subcategories were protected as "high risk". —andrybak (talk) 10:33, 2 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for edits to a protected page

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

  • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
  • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
  • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
  • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
  • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

sensitive situations. Nothing in this section empowers editors to enforce arbitration decisions.

This clarifies the ambiguity at Wikipedia_talk:Arbitration/Requests/Case/Palestine-Israel_articles_4#c-L235-2021-09-11T07:54:00.000Z-Ymblanter-2021-09-11T07:21:00.000Z and Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Clarification_and_Amendment#Amendment_request:_Extended_confirmed_restriction 142.113.140.146 (talk) 11:09, 25 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Where is the ambiguity in that section of Wikipedia:Policies and guidelines? And of course editors are empowered - that is, they have the authority or power - to enforce arbitration decisions. -- Malcolmxl5 (talk) 22:18, 25 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Not done. There is no ambiguity and the proposed assertion is false. ~Anachronist (talk) 07:09, 26 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

In "Early life and education", the article says "In 2003 she enrolled at the University of Mississippi". The source for that paragraph as archived (https://archive.ph/ek0sE) states that she "dropped out for good in 2001".

I suggest changing "In 2003 she enrolled..." to something like "She enrolled at the University of Mississippi, studying journalism and political science and writing for The Daily Mississippian, but left the school in 2001." Or of course, add a source for her enrolling in 2003. Elizabeth Internet (talk) 06:56, 26 July 2024 (UTC) Create a level 3 header with a link to the article in question, then a {{pagelinks}} template and then the reason.[reply]
