Upgrade

I am starting an upgrade of the article, using as a main source the 150th birthday publication of the school: Mitcham School 150 Years of History 1847-1997 bu Charles Cornwall. The school is one of the first established in the colony of South Australia Travers (talk) 02:33, 1 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Notability

The notability of the article was questioned by the addition of a banner on March 5 2014 and removed by another editor a day later, citing the age of the school and there being two notable students - a State Premier and Australian Prime Minister. In support of the removal of the Lack of Notability banner, I note that there are dozens of articles on schools in South Australia and none appeared to have Lack of Notability banners. The Mitcham article is more detailed that most of these articles and more referenced. Suggestions about aspects of the article that should be verified would be appreciated. Travers (talk) 02:07, 6 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

We generally don't have articles for primary schools, unless they source a clear claim to notability. The common outcome is that they are not Kept at AfD, but are deleted (as here) or merged or redirected -- though this is an essay only, you can see it reflected here. There is no consensus that age of the school, or having had two people who are notable attend the primary school, make it itself notable. The tag is meant to encourage people to focus on it. Many, many primary schools have been deleted at AfD -- the template helps editors know to address the issue, if possible, prior to an AfD !vote.
As to which aspects of the article should be verified, the uncited sentences should have RS refs ... presently, there are many that fail wp:v, and they should be supported. I don't think it would look good to tag each of them, but they are easy enough to spot.--Epeefleche (talk) 20:36, 6 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
