Allen Pope on trial, 28 December 1959

Allen Lawrence Pope was a US Air Force pilot who was shot down on May 18, 1958 while flying a B-26 during a raid on government forces in Indonesia. He was secretly working for the CIA helping local rebels to overthrow the Sukarno government and his capture along with a number of incriminating documents led to great embarrassment to the US government. He was released at the behest of the Kennedy Administration in 1962.
