Aegilops tauschii, also known as Tausch's goatgrass and rough-spike hard grass, is an annual grass species.[1]

It is native to temperate Asia and the tropical Asian Indian Subcontinent, the Caucasus region in Eurasia, and Ukraine in Eastern Europe.[1]

Taxonomy

Aegilops tauschii is part of the tribe Triticeae, along with wheat and some other cereals.

It is a diploid (2n = 2x = 14, DD) goat grass species[2] which has contributed the D genome in common wheat.[3]
