The Danube University Krems (subtitled University of Continuing Education Krems; in German, Donau-Universität Krems and Universität für Weiterbildung Krems, respectively) calls itself "the only state-funded university throughout Europe that has specialised in post-graduate academic studies". It is located in Krems, Lower Austria. The first students enrolled in 1995.

Today, c. 3,000 students study at Danube University which offers more than 100 courses and degree programmes (leading to Master's degrees) in the fields:

  • Business and Management Studies
  • Telecommunications, Information and Mass Media
  • European Integration and Law
  • Environmental and Medical Sciences
  • Buildings and Ecology
  • Cultural Studies.

The university co-operates with various foreign institutions, including the University of British Columbia and Case Western Reserve University.

Helmut Kramer, formerly director of the Austrian Institute of Economic Research, is Rektor (Vice-Chancellor or President) of the university.
