List of episodes

The sixth series of Line of Duty, consisting of seven episodes, begins broadcasting on BBC One on 21 March 2021. The story follows the actions of Superintendent Ted Hastings (Adrian Dunbar), DI Kate Fleming (Vicky McClure) and DS Steve Arnott (Martin Compston) as they investigate the conduct of the senior investigating officer, DCI Joanne Davidson (Kelly Macdonald).[1]

Background

On 5 May 2017, Line of Duty was renewed by the BBC for a fifth and sixth series.[2] The fifth season began broadcasting on 31 March 2019, and the final episode was on 5 May.[3] In November 2019, it was announced that Kelly Macdonald would join the cast of the sixth series.[4] Filming began in February 2020,[5] but stopped the following month due to the COVID-19 pandemic,[6] before resuming in September[7] and finishing in November.[8] Despite the production delay, the series premiere has been brought forward because of the show's popularity, with some episodes still in post-production.[9] The sixth series will have seven episodes instead of the usual six.[10][11] On 5 March 2021, Vicky McClure and Adrian Dunbar appeared on The Graham Norton Show to promote the sixth series,[12] and the full-length trailer was released on 9 March.[13][14]
