The 2020 NCAA Division I Field Hockey Championship is the 40th annual tournament organized by the NCAA, to determine the national champion of Division I women's college field hockey in the United States.
The semifinals and championship match was to be played at LR Hill Sport Complex at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia from November 20 to 22, 2020.[1] The Fall Championship was moved to the Spring season to allow for more teams that elected to not participate in Fall 2020 sports (due to the Covid-19 pandemic) to have shortened Conference play in the Spring Season of 2021. This NCAA Division I Field Hockey Championship (semifinals and championship match) will be held May 7-9th, 2021 at Karen Sheldon Stadium at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, NC.
Qualified teams
- A total of 18 teams will for the 2020 tournament, the same number of teams as 2019. 10 teams will receive automatic bids by winning their conference tournaments and an additional 8 teams will earn at-large bids based on their regular season records.
- UPDATE: IVY LEAGUE Conference elected to NOT participate in BOTH FALL 2020 and SPRING 2021 SEASONS.
