Wikipedia:Template index/User talk namespace
These templates are placed on talk pages to warn a user against vandalism, convey a standardized message, or to place a standard boilerplate note at the top of a page. The templates are listed alphabetically and by series, and organized by intent: 'Warnings', 'Messages', 'Page headers', or 'shortcuts'.
Remember to always add "subst:" to substitute messages, so that the message does not change from what the user originally saw and perhaps responded to. Other user talk templates probably shouldn't be substituted in general, so that they can benefit from improvements, there's not tons of confusing code in the edit box, etc. (See Wikipedia:Template substitution for more information.) Note that the WikiProject on User Warnings seeks to create a standardized set of templates that are intended to replace these.

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! Someone using this IP address, at {{subst:BASEPAGENAME}}, has made edits that do not conform to our policies and guidelines and therefore have been reverted. For more information on this, see Wikipedia's policies on vandalism and limits on acceptable additions. If you did not do this, you may wish to consider getting a username to avoid confusion with other editors. If you'd like to experiment with the syntax, please do so in the sandbox rather than in articles. You don't have to log in to read or edit pages on Wikipedia, but creating an account is quick, free, requires no personal information, and has many benefits. Without a username, your IP address is used to identify you. Some good links for newcomers are: Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and a timestamp. A tag has been placed on Article requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from http://google.com. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. Hello, Template index, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one of your contributions does not conform to Wikipedia's Neutral Point of View policy (NPOV). Wikipedia articles should refer only to facts and interpretations that have been stated in print or on reputable websites or other forms of media. There's a page about the NPOV policy that has tips on how to effectively write about disparate points of view without compromising the NPOV status of the article as a whole. If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the Questions page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Thank you for your effort at contributing to Wikipedia, especially if you are a newcomer. The Wikipedia community owes its newcomers a lot, and continues to value this as per policy and per practice. That said, the article you created at Example seems to be erroneously placed, as it seems to consist of information you give about yourself. I have therefore moved it for you to your user space, which is the best location for a user's information about themselves in the first place. Don't be upset; this is a common mistake. If you really did mean to create an article about yourself, please be aware that this is often considered a bad idea, even if you do meet the guidelines for inclusion of biographies. Writing about yourself on Wikipedia can result in significant damage to your reputation, as it's a conflict of interest and widely considered to be an abuse of the project. As a technical note, an autobiographic article is usually eligible for deletion without further discussion under criterion A7 in the criteria for speedy deletion as an article about a real person that does not assert the importance or significance of its subject, or under criterion G11 in the same list, obvious advertising or promotion. I know Wikipedia can be confusing for new editors, so you are welcome to ask for help at the Teahouse or on my talk page. |

{{subst:UploaderHints}} | ==Advice on uploading images==
Hello! Thanks for uploading some pictures to Wikipedia. I wanted to make sure you were aware of some of the requirements and good practices for uploaded images.
Some links to Wikipedia pages on this subject: Copyrights, Copyright tags, Non-free content, Image description page, Public domain, Images for deletion, Possibly unfree images, Copyright problems, Uploading images Thanks again for your contributions. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask me at my talk page. |
{{subst:name your images|Image:image_name}} | ![]() |
{{subst:image source|Image:image_name}} | ==Unspecified source for Image:image name==
Thanks for uploading Image:image name. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be a justification explaining why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page. If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{fairusein|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use. If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. |

![]() Thank you for uploading Image:image name. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? |

![]() A tag has been placed on Image:image name requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a copyright violation and has no credible claim of fair use or permission. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. If the image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use it — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here. If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. |
{{subst:Idw-sd|Image:image_name}} | ==File source and copyright licensing problem with File:Image name==
![]() Thanks for uploading File:Image name. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status and its source. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. If you did not create this work entirely yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. You will also need to state under what licensing terms it was released. Please refer to the image use policy to learn what files you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. The page on copyright tags may help you to find the correct tag to use for your file. Please add this information by editing the image description page. If the necessary information is not added within the next seven days, the image will be deleted. {{subst:you can request undeletion}} Please also check any other files you may have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. |

Welcome! Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. Currently, you are editing without a username. You can continue to do so, as you are not required to log in to Wikipedia to read and edit articles; however, logging in will result in a username being shown instead of your IP address (yours is Template messages/User talk namespace). Logging in does not require any personal details, and there are many other benefits for logging in. When you edit pages:

Hello, Template index, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one of your contributions does not conform to Wikipedia's Neutral Point of View policy (NPOV). Wikipedia articles should refer only to facts and interpretations that have been stated in print or on reputable websites or other forms of media. |

A tag has been placed on Example, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to have no meaningful content or history, and the text is unsalvageably incoherent. If the page you created was a test, please use the sandbox for any other experiments you would like to do. |

Speedy deletion nomination of Example==
![]()
Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a notice to inform you that a tag has been placed on Example requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. | ==

Hello! Thanks for uploading some pictures to Wikipedia. I wanted to make sure you were aware of some of the requirements and good practices for uploaded images.

{{subst:name your images|Image:image_name}} | ![]() |
{{subst:image source|Image:image_name}} | ==Unspecified source for Image:image name==
Thank you. |
{{subst:image copyright|Image:image_name}} | ==Image copyright problem with Image:image name==

{{subst:idw-cp|Image:image_name}} | ==Speedy deletion nomination of Image:image name==
{{subst:Idw-sd|Image:image_name}} | ==File source and copyright licensing problem with File:Image name==
Thank you. |
