ArbCom 2020 Elections voter message

Hello! Voting in the 2020 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 7 December 2020. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

What is that supposed to mean exactly? OyMosby (talk) 01:24, 7 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

This [1]. Is this an anti-Semitic remark?OyMosby (talk) 02:35, 7 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@OyMosby: Bruuuh SerVasi (talk) 21:13, 7 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thats some next level jumping to conclusion my g. SerVasi (talk) 21:14, 7 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

So care to explain what it’s in reference too? You have to admit it looks really sus. OyMosby (talk) 21:28, 7 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@OyMosby: My friend sadko thinks listing cyrillic in the lead of the article is warranted just because his mother was serbian. He naturally wouldnt keep the same energy if the dispute didnt involve serbs in some way. I jokingly referenced that by comparing it to the jewish matronymic society. SerVasi (talk) 21:37, 7 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Your joke is not appreciated and neither is your slow but continuous EW. I shall give no more warnings, I did my best.
By the way, Bregovic has been living in Belgrade (Senjak) and recording music there for about three decades. There are other reasons for including cyr. but let's leave that for another place and time. Sadkσ (talk is cheap) 01:44, 8 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Sadko: So if i live on the pole for 30 years am i a penguin?? Edo maajka has been living in Zagreb for the same amount of time but you dont see anybody slapping croatian in the lead. If there are other reasons feel free to list them as this is an open discussin. And on the note of ew im just following your guidelines from our previous discussions like vladimir beara but somehow its different now. Some consistency please. This is supposed to be an encyclopedia and not some greater serbian fantasy my king.[reply]

Hi, SerVasi, Pls note that subject was born in United States for such he name is Stipe Miocic. JJust as Alexander Volkanovski and Aljamain Sterling, their parents are from Greek/Macedonia and Jamaica respectively, but in the native country (Australia and United States) that would be their name legally. Thank you. Cassiopeia(talk) 01:21, 19 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Cassiopeia: Hi Cassiopeia, unfortunately im at a loss to see where i said that he wasnt american. I also dont understand why you took the american pronounciation in addition to the croatian. Are you saying his name is Stipe Mayosick like he was hilariously called at he start of his UFC career? Also he uses the coatian pronounciation and is very proud of his croatian heritage so why remove that? SerVasi (talk) 03:02, 19 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
SerVasi, Same as Aleksandar Rakić who was born in Austria, Miocic is American for he was born in United States. His legal name is Stipe Miocic and no other. His heritage name is not legal and the pronunciation of his name is in English and not in Croatian. If the subject is Russian who was born in Russia and the page is in English Wikipedia then sourced edit of his name can be provided in Russian. This is English Wikipedia and Stipe Miocic is he name and how it is pronounce in this native language (English in United States). Thank you. Cassiopeia(talk) 03:07, 20 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Cassiopeia: His name is not read in the american way. Its read as Stipe Miochich and not mayosick. Again the american way was used when he wasnt as popular and was rightfully corrected. You are already operating under a false pretense that this is american and even if it was i still cant see why you removed sourced information relevant to the subject. This is an encyclopedia after all. SerVasi (talk) 03:41, 20 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, First of all I am not an American but I lived in US for a long time. This is English encyclopedia and not an American encyclopedia. So how his name is pronounced in English media regardless of which media as commonly pronounced would be it. Same as many Russian and Chinese or Thai names, in English media the name is pronounced different that of their native pronunciations for in English the names have been Romanized, especially there the native languages are of toner system. Cassiopeia(talk) 23:37, 26 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Cassiopeia: Im afraid i dont quite understand what you are saying in your latest response. I attempted to compromise by amending the early life section. It hanst been taken out yet so im assuming youre ok with it and we can close this discussion. Ill get back to you on Rakic tho. SerVasi (talk) 16:14, 27 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, I have removed the info in the early life section as the the source is about Sveti Stjepan and Stipe Miocic. thank you. Cassiopeia(talk) 23:52, 27 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm Vacant0. Wikipedia is written by people who have a wide diversity of opinions, but we try hard to make sure articles have a neutral point of view. Your recent edit to Julije Balović seemed less than neutral and has been removed. If you think this was a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you.
