@TheresNoTime: Thank you, that's very much appreciated. DuncanHill (talk) 12:03, 20 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Goodness

All I noticed in your addition to Talk:Emma Raducanu was that you inserted a line at the top of an already existing thread. And a line with no signature. I thought it was mischief. Sorry but I didn't understand that it was a revert of a prior illegal removal of the line. Thanks for catching me in an error, but not so much the talk page template. Cheers. It's good to check the history of talk pages before removing things. So are edit summaries if you think you are blanking a comment for good reason. DuncanHill (talk) 18:30, 18 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@AnonMoos: Ah ok. FWIW I would ban all non-Latin script in sigs on en-wiki, and all fancy sigs too, but apparently "making things readable for others" is an unreasonable ask. All the best, DuncanHill (talk) 02:26, 21 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The AIV report

Hi DuncanHill, evidence-less, diff-less sockpuppetry reports are sometimes not as obvious as they may seem to you. That's all. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 12:48, 31 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Then ask, or leave it for someone less unfamiliar with the history. Tagging it "go to the most backlogged board you can find" where in a few weeks we'll discover that "this duck is indeed a duck, but they've used half a dozen other IPs since so no point blocking this one" doesn't inspire people to put in the effort to spot and report block evasion. DuncanHill (talk) 13:56, 31 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
The "then leave it" request is the reason a bot archives these messages after a few hours: No administrator wants to be the scapegoat for all who silently skipped the report. SPI is backlogged because dealing with an average sockpuppetry case takes considerably longer than dealing with an AIV report. If people start using AIV for this reason, AIV suffers from the same problem. The only difference is that at AIV, the evidence requirements are lower, resulting in even harder-to-process sockpuppetry reports than at SPI. Regarding "Obviously block evasion is no longer a blockable offence", if you search for the terms "evasion" and "sock" in my last 1000 blocks, you'll see that over 1/8 of them are attempts to enforce WP:BE oder WP:BMB. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 14:29, 31 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
"Then ask". DuncanHill (talk) 14:31, 31 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

1971 genocide in Bangladesh.

You don't seem to live in Bangladesh and neither do you you seem to be a citizen of this country unlike me. And yet you persist in identifying a political party as the 'Bangladesh ' Jamaat e Islami which did not exist in 1971. At that time it was the Pakistan Jamaat e Islami. When Bangladesh was liberated on 16 Dec 1971 all its top leaders had fled the territory of Bangladesh after carrying out the carnage of 14 & 15 Dec 1971. It was only much later that it was formed in Bangladesh. You should go through the umpteen sources available in book form and on the internet. I would normally not get into an argument of this kind but I was present in Dhaka throughout 1971 and saw with my own eyes the horrors committed at that time by the so-called President of Pakistan Yahya Khan and his cohorts. @Abul Bakhtiar: I have made one edit to 1971 Bangladesh genocide, and that was to add an internal link to the author Craig Baxter. Where I live or what nationality I hold is irrelevant. If you have reliable sources to use in improving the article then please go ahead and do so. Discussion about the article content belongs on the article talk page, not here. DuncanHill (talk) 13:01, 10 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I am not interested in getting into a slanging match with you but if you are iinserting incorrect information your nationality is indeed important. I may complain to the Wikipedia authorities if I think it' s necessary. You cannot just dismiss something out of hand as being 'irrelevant'. Abul Bakhtiar (talk) 07:30, 13 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
