Surfing will be a medal event for the second time at the 2024 Summer Olympics, following its Olympic debut at the 2020 Games in Tokyo, Japan. The total number of medal events is two, one each for men and women. The number of athletes will be 24 men and 24 women.[1]

Venue

The surfing competition will take place in Teahupo'o, Tahiti in the French overseas territory of French Polynesia in southern Pacific. The decision was made to hold the surfing competition in the French territory rather than in continental Europe, due to the famous massive waves on the island which would be suitable for the surfing competitions.[1]
