The History section seems to have been lifted bodily from a page on the town's website - a poorly-translated English version of the site's main history pages. I should probably have removed it, but have left it temporarily pending an attempt to create a version that doesn't violate copyright on the basis of the original German pages. "Biggest city that is not an urban district"

Moers belongs to the district of Wesel. It is the biggest city in Germany (and at present time the only one with more than 100,000 inhabitants) that is neither an urban district, nor takes over district responsibilities.

Wrong --- or at least, not exactly worded. The absolutely biggest city in Germany that is not "district-free" (kreisfrei) is Neuss (150,000+ inhabitants). That means it is not an independent city, but part of the Neuss district. However, it is also its administrative center.

From the German Wikipedia article on Moers: Moers ist die größte Stadt Deutschlands, die weder kreisfrei noch Sitz eines Kreises ist.

What is meant here is the following: Moers is the biggest city that is neither an urban district, nor the seat [capital] of the district that it belongs to.

History Section

As currently written, the history section deals overwhelmingly with the County of Moers, not with the town of Moers. The history section of the corresponding article on the County of Moers contains virtually no information. Probably would be a good idea to transfer what's in the history section of the town of Moers, to the corresponding section of the County of Moers, and then add a history of the town here. How to pronounce "Moers"

The IPA transcription does not match the recorded native speaker's pronunciation of the name, which is a "spelling pronunciation", and not the real one. This needs to be fixed. (I would, but my ears cannot determine which "a" vowel is used here, and whether the people of the town are non-rhotic, or I simply cannot hear the "r".) Solo Owl 01:11, 9 September 2022 (UTC)
