DYK for Honolulu Courthouse

On 1 November 2020, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Honolulu Courthouse, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that a group of prisoners building the Honolulu Courthouse overpowered their guards, took possession of gun batteries overlooking Honolulu, and attempted to open fire on nearby buildings? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Honolulu Courthouse. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Honolulu Courthouse), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Well well well well

...I finally found you. Drmies (talk) 20:47, 1 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Drmies: Hah! I tried my best to hide this identity, how dare you out me!
I just tried to read through the entire page on fandom and I have to admit that I am not smart enough to figure out what is going on. "Attired in her kannagi appearance, she rode a gigantic centipede that stabbed Akane into suffering a fatal wound through his abdomen." That thought is going to give me nightmares. Children's media sure has gotten violent!
Thanks for sharing, I needed that amusement this week! Aoi (青い) (talk) 08:56, 2 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
We all need some amusement sometimes, and yes, you got busted, didn't you. I got the first shot of the Moderna vaccine a few days ago, so it feels like my days are a bit brighter. I won some lottery from a local pharmacy, and now I'm wondering if I am like all those other white middle-class people skipping the line. Anyway, the world of anime is dark and disturbing. My kids were watching some show where characters were executed, in public, for amusement. Maybe I'm just getting old. Take care, and may your days turn merry and bright. Your template revert

Greetings Aoi. I must disagree with your revert of my edit adding Lōʻihi Seamount to Template:Hawaiian volcanism in which your edit summary states "Lōʻihi is already listed in template under the Windward Isles group (also, it's geographically not part of the Emperor Seamount chain)." However, the article for Lōʻihi Seamount states in its second sentence in the lede that the seamount "is the newest volcano in the Hawaiian–Emperor seamount chain, a string of volcanoes that stretches about 3,900 mi (6,200 km) northwest of Lōʻihi."

Additionally, the article Hawaiian–Emperor seamount chain states "The seamount chain, containing over 80 identified undersea volcanoes, stretches about 6,200 km (3,900 mi) from the Aleutian Trench in the far northwest Pacific to the Loʻihi seamount, the youngest volcano in the chain, which lies about 35 kilometres (22 mi) southeast of the Island of Hawaiʻi." Still further, Loʻihi seamount is listed first at List of volcanoes in the Hawaiian–Emperor seamount chain.

Hopefully you will agree that my edit to the template is correct, and if so, correct your error. Thanks. Jusdafax (talk) 06:27, 5 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Jusdafax: I appreciate you posting here. I am afraid we will have to agree to disagree. The template we are editing is based on the article List of volcanoes in the Hawaiian–Emperor seamount chain, which divides the chain into three parts: the Windward Isles, the Leeward Isles, and the Emperor Seamounts. Lōʻihi is already listed in both the template and the article as part of the Windward Isles because Lōʻihi is both geographically and geologically part of the younger Windward Isles portion of the chain. The statement that Lōʻihi is "the newest volcano in the Hawaiian-Emperor seamount chain" is correct -- but it's part of the "Hawaiian" portion of the chain, not the "Emperor" portion of the chain. (Note there are other seamounts that are listed as part of the Windward Isles, including Māhukona, Penguin Bank, and Kaʻena. Not every seamount in the chain is part of the Emperor Seamounts.) Hey dude, I will eventually find a proper source to the Just Roll with It article to say that it actually ended, sorry about using a fan Twitter account for that source, but thanks for your understanding about it though.

However, I really don't want to start up a disruptive edit with you on the article though; but I added the missing production companies Blackbird Films and Sullen Child since those actually produced the series.

TheRavineStudios (talk) 03:47, 19 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I did look for a source that met WP:RS for your edit but could not find one. The only hits I found were to user-generated content. Often for these niche TV shows, there just aren't any reliable sources available. Aoi (青い) (talk) 21:59, 19 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Julia Vickerman

Continuing from the Forever 12 post back to October my concerns came out of the ultra-controversial screenwriter who created the Netflix program based on a 2015 short on Cartoon Network and storyboarded the critically reviled Painbow from Powerpuff Girls remake.

She was discovered having an affair on a 14 year old adolescent male over a decade ago causing her to be fired. This link seems like a valid biography upon her right? And if an article is created will it strongly neglect meeting notability guidelines? I know she is not famous but her controversies eerily resembles those of Kricfalusi and R. Kelly’s.

Hello, I'm not sure what article your comment is in reference to but the link you provided is a user-generated wiki, which does not meet WP:RS, and therefore would violate WP:BLP. Thanks, Aoi (青い) (talk) 21:18, 5 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

In The Heights June 11

Please stop changing the release date of In the Hieghts to June 10. According to the poster and Warner Bros.' official website[1], it releases on June 11. Just about every movie releases on Friday, but has screenings late Thursday night. You always use the Friday date promoted on Wikipidea. You may not know this, since by the edits you made, it's apparent you don't go to the movies often. ScottSullivan1 (talk) 23:17, 9 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I have no opinion on what the release date should or shouldn't be. I was reverting an IP editor who was editing disruptively across a variety of pages and was subsequently blocked. If the date is wrong, feel free to change it back. Aoi (青い) (talk) 23:26, 9 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding to your edits to University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa

Most wiki pages regarding flagship institutions provide information about buildings on their campus - in particular their historical building. An example is University of Wisconsin–Madison. Regarding the section regarding 'leadership', its misleading since I had wanted this section to provide historical information has it pertains to presidents & chancellors of the university. --Pxion130 (talk) 07:08, 13 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Technical news

  • IP addresses of unregistered users are to be hidden from everyone. There is a rough draft of how IP addresses may be shown to users who need to see them. This currently details allowing administrators, checkusers, stewards and those with a new usergroup to view the full IP address of unregistered users. Editors with at least 500 edits and an account over a year old will be able to see all but the end of the IP address in the proposal. The ability to see the IP addresses hidden behind the mask would be dependent on agreeing to not share the parts of the IP address they can see with those who do not have access to the same information. Accessing part of or the full IP address of a masked editor would also be logged. Comments on the draft are being welcomed at the talk page.

WarnerMedia/Discovery

Thanks for saving it as a draft. One of the reasons I created the article was that I didn't like how the original organization of WarnerMedia after AT&T acquired it. I understand removing certain brands, but it presents another problem.

I separated the film studios from the networks companies should NOT function like that. WB should remain a film & entertainment division. None of the major studios function are like that. Just my opinion. — Preceding unsigned comment added by MegaSmike46 (talkcontribs) 0:43, 6 July 2021 (UTC)

Thanks for starting that article and thank you for understanding the reasons why I moved it to draftspace. I definitely share your concerns about how some of these conglomerates are organized. Please respond to my comment on your admonition to not use so-called "unreliable" sources

You put an admonition on my talk page to not use "unreliable" sources to which I responded. Unfortunately you did not respond so I'll repeat the comment here given that this is an important issue which has reduced the reliability and trustworthiness of the (English-language) Wikipedia project.

Information icon Please do not add or change content, as you did at Hasbro, without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Please note that the source you included in your edit is not considered a reliable source, per WP:VERITAS. Aoi (青い) (talk) 23:40, 19 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

"unreliable sources" does not mean "sources which go against my personal bias". You - and many other editors - are shooting the messenger instead of looking at the message, the contents of which are clear and in no way edited. May I suggest anyone who has a bone to pick with the selection of sources - both those who agree with the current version of "neutrality" as well as those who want to go back to the original implementation - to read one of the interviews with Larry Sanger, better known as the co-founder of the Wikipedia project? Here's what he has to say on this specific subject:
  • You can’t cite the Daily Mail at all. You can’t cite Fox News on socio-political issues either. It’s banned. So what does that mean? It means that if a controversy does not appear in the mainstream centre-Left media, then it’s not going to appear on Wikipedia. [1]
  • Wikipedia does not just mirror the biases found in the mainstream news media, because some of it is conservative or contrarian. A lot of mainstream news stories are broken only in Fox News, the Daily Mail, and the New York Post—all of which are banned from use as sources by Wikipedia. Beyond that, many mainstream sources of conservative, libertarian, or contrarian opinion are banned from Wikipedia as well, including Quillette, The Federalist, and the Daily Caller. Those might be contrarian or conservative, but they are hardly “radical”; they are still mainstream. So, how on earth can such viewpoints ever be given an airing on Wikipedia? Answer: often, they cannot, not if there are no “reliable sources” available to report about them. [2].
In this specific case - Hasbro forcing employees to undergo racist 'training sessions' based on critical theory - it is abundantly clear the this news will not make it into the list of 'reliable' media until its publication in alternative media has whipped up enough of a storm and even then it will only be published in such a way that it can be used as damage control. Even if you might not agree with Project Veritas' bias - which they clearly have, just like any other news outlet - that does not mean you can simply ignore whatever they say on the pretence of them 'not being reliable'. Many of the so-called 'reliable' sources on the list of perennial sources are known to publish lies which they need to retract later yet still they are labelled as 'reliable'. This is not the accepted definition of the term 'reliable', a better term would be 'acceptably biased'. Yetanwiki (talk) 21:56, 20 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I was trying to add this on the page Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/MariaJaydHicky but couldn't so I thought you can help. “I was reverting Vandalism edits so I came across on the page Anti (album). When I reverted the vandalsim edit I noticed that it was the same edit as the last one made by IP which was all reverted but the user who reverted it said that it was by a Sockpuppet so I looked into it and it was the same edit made by the new user which I also believe to be a new sockpuppet account.

Re: October 2021

Regarding your message you send me, to be honest, I was just trying to add a point about the artstyle of Klasky Csupo. I honestly find most of the art styles in KC’s animations are very revolting imaginable (though sure some can be look okay), no matter how most of the studio’s works can be decent surely. But I wouldn’t surprise if there’s the side of the community would actually think if those styles are quite have beauty in their point of view. Give me break, it’s like if someone would give a praise to the art designs of Problem Solverz, considering it to look "beautiful". Wiki-Ikiw (talk) 07:22, 17 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Wiki-Ikiw: I don't necessarily disagree with your opinion, but personal opinions are inappropriate to include in articles per Wikipedia's WP:NPOV policy. If there are reliable sources out there that back up what you wrote (e.g., a review of Rugrats from The Washington Post or something that says, "The Klasky Csupo studio, which is known for its crudely-drawn art style..."), then that could be used as a source.
By the way, I had no idea what Problem Solverz was until you mentioned it -- now that's revolting. If you take a look at that show's Wikipedia article, it does include a statement that says, Criticism of The Problem Solverz was directed at the visual style and writing, followed by a bunch of specific quotes from critics (from Variety, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, etc.) that backed up that statement. Something like that might work at the Klasky Csupo article. Aoi (青い) (talk) 08:16, 17 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Re: October (continue)

Thanks to agree with me about Klasky Csupo. But I now understand what you mentioned me about adding personal opinions onto Wikipedia is unacceptable. Though I hopefully certain that everyone else agree with me as well, I’m not alone since.

I really don’t like the looks of both the Problem Solverz and most of Klasky Csupo cartoons, especially with The Wild Thornberrys, As Told by Ginger (very hideous looking girls’ cartoon), and even their series based on McDonald’s mascots, which the latter that those characters in the series looked messed up! I feel like if the KC studio is the destroyer of the cuteness and decentness. Even some characters like Sundea and the Nuggets are not trying to be look "cute". Hell no! Could McDonald’s have not choose better animation houses to produce the series for them, like DiC? Which that studio already did with the McTreasure one back in 1990. The designs in the 1990s short looked more faithful to the original McCharacters, adorable and more appealing than that KC version. But gladly that was the past since KC finished the McDonald series. And I wonder why the KC artstyle is inspired from, they look like very bad artworks drawn by tweens. And yeah, this is my personal opinion. If you’re sick and tired hearing this same thing, that’s fine, I apologize.Wiki-Ikiw (talk) 10:25, 17 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi

User Zefr is behaving extremely immaturely. He has now threatened me on my talk page and removed my latest reply on the Moderna talk page.

I request permission to revert Zefr's changes and classify him as a vandal. I fear, given his interests, he is likely protecting a personal stake in the company and is not motivated by policy. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Surge Of Reason (talkcontribs) 18:13, 12 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

MBK Partners - Wiki info

I discussed the information with user:331dot and he said it's ok to edit. How can I prove my self that I'm the insider??? It's too much waste of time. Why 3 different people keep involving this issue and make me complicated... Can't understand. All the information is correct and there is not a single collision with the current information on the page. If there is no problem, we'd like to change some information. The basic idea is exactly the same. We just added a bit of details. I have one more question, I read the 'Paid editing declaration" section you sent. However I can't still understand about it. Where can we put the information? Do I have to make a new section for the paid employee information?

@Jjosso: I don't doubt that you're the insider. In fact, the fact that you are likely an insider is the problem: Wikipedia's guidelines on conflicts of interest strongly discourage people with a direct connection with a subject to make edits in connection with the subject, as I've noted on your talk page. I understand that you are only trying to improve this article, but you need to comply with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines in doing so.
So, consistent with the guidelines, please request your proposed edits on the article talk page at Talk:MBK Partners. It would also help if you could provide specific sources that support your changes. Thank you. Aoi (青い) (talk) 00:50, 18 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Warner Bros. Discovery

A credible paragraph from the 2022 Warner Bros. Discovery Form 8-K report UNITED STATES SECURITIES AND EXCHANGE COMMISSION, WASHINGTON, DC 20549, FORM 8-K, CURRENT REPORT, Warner Bros. Discovery, Inc.:

“On April 8, 2022 (the “Closing Date”), Warner Bros. Discovery, Inc. (“WBD” or the “Company”), formerly known as Discovery, Inc. (“Discovery”), and AT&T Inc. (“AT&T”) completed the previously disclosed transactions contemplated by (1) that certain Agreement and Plan of Merger, dated as of May 17, 2021 (as amended, the “Merger Agreement”), by and among Discovery, Drake Subsidiary, Inc., a Delaware corporation and a direct, wholly owned subsidiary of Discovery (“Merger Sub”), AT&T and Magallanes, Inc., a Delaware corporation and formerly a wholly owned subsidiary of AT&T (“Spinco”), (2) that certain Separation and Distribution Agreement, dated as of May 17, 2021 (as amended, the “Separation Agreement”), by and among Discovery, AT&T and Spinco, and (3) certain other agreements in connection with the transactions contemplated by the Merger Agreement and the Separation Agreement. Specifically, (1) AT&T transferred the business, operations and activities that constitute the WarnerMedia segment of AT&T (the “WarnerMedia Business”), subject to certain exceptions as set forth in the Separation Agreement, to Spinco (the “Separation”), (2) thereafter, on the Closing Date, AT&T distributed to its stockholders all of the shares of common stock, par value $0.01 per share, of Spinco (“Spinco common stock”) held by AT&T by way of a pro rata dividend such that each holder of shares of common stock, par value $1.00 per share, of AT&T (“AT&T common stock”) was entitled to receive one share of Spinco common stock for each share of AT&T common stock held as of the record date, April 5, 2022 (the “Distribution”), and (3) following the Distribution, Merger Sub merged with and into Spinco, with Spinco surviving as a wholly owned subsidiary of the Company (the “Merger” and together with the Separation and the Distribution, the “Transactions”). Pursuant to the Merger Agreement, at the effective time of the Merger, each issued and outstanding share of Spinco common stock on the Closing Date was automatically converted into the right to receive 0.241917 shares of Series A common stock, par value $0.01 per share, of WBD (“WBD common stock”). In addition, pursuant to the Separation Agreement and prior to the Distribution, on the Closing Date, Spinco made a cash payment to AT&T of approximately $28.9 billion (the “Special Cash Payment”), which is subject to certain post-closing adjustments pursuant to the terms of the Separation Agreement.”

Granthew (talk) 17:55, 13 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I read the paragraph, but it doesn't say what you think it says, and the term "legal successor" does not appear in any of it (or anywhere else in the 8-K for that matter). In addition, yes, the corporate entity "Discovery, Inc." was renamed "Warner Bros. Discovery, Inc." and is thus the surviving entity, but "surviving company" is not the same thing as "legal successor." Aoi (青い) (talk) 18:05, 13 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Help request

Hi

I know we didn't have a good relationship before. I still wanted to ask if you could help write a section on Ariana Grande's legacy and influence. You seem to be glancing at the article frequently. There are many sources and suggestions on the article's talk page, but it just needs someone good at rephrasing it. I see you've been doing this for a while. Unfortunately, my knowledge of English and experience on this site are not sufficient. I have my own ideas too, but I'll contribute them as soon as I see the end result.

It doesn't have to be immediate, but I'd appreciate it if you could at least make it a priority in the near future. But it's also okay if you don't want to.

Regards Mirrored7 (talk) 14:36, 3 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

There already seems to be an "impact and influence" section in the article, though it could use come copyediting. Are you thinking of adding to it? Aoi (青い) (talk) 05:16, 6 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Help request

Hi

I am unable to move or redirect 'Optare & Switch Mobility' page to 'Switch Mobility' page. Switch Mobility is the updated name of the company and they are using the same everywhere. Could you please help me with this. Right now 'Switch Mobility' is getting redirected to 'Optare & Switch Mobility' which should be vice versa because Switch Mobility is the correct updated name of the company.

Regards. Bhor.sankalp

Hello, I've seen this message and trying to figure out how to proceed. At this point, I think doing a requested move would be best--but the thing I'm finding problematic is that the sources I've found conflict as to whether Optare and Switch Mobility are separate entities or not. I've seen two recent sources (i.e., within the last month or so) that state that Optare continues to exist as a separate entity from Switch Mobility. If that it is the case, it may be more appropriate to maintain these two entities as separate articles. But other sources indicate that Optare was renamed as Switch Mobility. I'm debating whether to open a request for comment to ask opinions from other editors whether we should treat the two entities as separate or not. Unfortunately, I am very busy at work this week so I haven't had a chance to really think this through. If you favor one solution over another, feel free to proceed without me (but please do not do another cut-and-paste move). Best, Aoi (青い) (talk) 20:06, 15 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hi AOI,
How about we just delete the Optare & Switch Mobility page and keep Switch Mobility as the only stand alone page? Bhor.sankalp (talk) 13:17, 27 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Death and state funeral of Elizabeth II

Nice job reversing my edits on this article. Now the citation points to a file that tells us these events will happen in the future. Rutsq (talk) 00:54, 14 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

IMO, having a reliable source that is slightly outdated is better than no source at all (and significantly better than relying on WP:DAILYMAIL). By the way, this is exactly why archive links exist. Aoi (青い) (talk) 01:01, 14 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

ArbCom 2022 Elections voter message

Hello! Voting in the 2022 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 12 December 2022. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2022 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:25, 29 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
